Song Parodies -> How Mental Is My Pain
| Original Song Title: | "A Lover's Concerto (How Gentle Is the Rain)" |
| Original Performer: | The Toys |
| Parody Song Title: | "How Mental Is My Pain" |
| Parody Written by: | Rick Duncan |
I always thought the title was "How Gentle Is the Rain" until I looked it up. The music was written taken from J.S. Bach's "Minuet in G" as every piano student knows. But I'm not counting this as a classical parody. It's from the pop song.
How mental is my pain?
The doctor says it's not authentic
I told him that he needs to run some more tests
I'm sure he'll find something, Ow!
Now both my kidneys hurt
I think they're gonna need replacing
So put me on the list, someone else won't miss
Them when they're in me
Now, I am really sure
That I've contracted the Ebola
Look, I have all the signs, fever and the shakes
It's not all in my mind, Ow
Please, take me to ER
For I might die before I get there
There goes my back again, and just one more thing
Where's the aspirin?
Someday they'll find a cure
Forever end all of my suffering
I'll dance and run and play, and I won't complain
Every single day, Ow
But, I guess until then
I'll have to try every placebo
And, someday they might work, proving it to me
Medics are all jerks
When I am in my grave
I want to have this short inscription
Carved, letters big and thick, carved there in the stone
"See! Told you I was sick!"
The doctor says it's not authentic
I told him that he needs to run some more tests
I'm sure he'll find something, Ow!
Now both my kidneys hurt
I think they're gonna need replacing
So put me on the list, someone else won't miss
Them when they're in me
Now, I am really sure
That I've contracted the Ebola
Look, I have all the signs, fever and the shakes
It's not all in my mind, Ow
Please, take me to ER
For I might die before I get there
There goes my back again, and just one more thing
Where's the aspirin?
Someday they'll find a cure
Forever end all of my suffering
I'll dance and run and play, and I won't complain
Every single day, Ow
But, I guess until then
I'll have to try every placebo
And, someday they might work, proving it to me
Medics are all jerks
When I am in my grave
I want to have this short inscription
Carved, letters big and thick, carved there in the stone
"See! Told you I was sick!"

Rick - the original is "sort of" there floating somewhat unfocused in my dome, but I can't quite get a fix on it. I'll come back later and take a look again.
