Song Parodies -> "Incensed At Arrogance"

Original Song Title:

"Incense and Peppermints"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

The Strawberry Alarm Clock

Parody Song Title:

"Incensed At Arrogance"

Parody Written by:

Michael Pacholek

The Lyrics

Dedicated to Paul Robinson, whose excellent "Bush & Neo-Con Arrogance" gave me the idea. Which is only fair, since I did "The Day That He'll Bury Us" last year.
Good sense in absence, cripplin' mankind.
Dumb king knows nothing, IQ of 9.
Tax cuts and right-wing nuts clutter his mind.
Incensed at arrogance, the cover of TIME.

Who cares what's on the news?
Little to win, and so much to lose!

Incensed at arrogance, George Dubya Bush.
Harmony, economy, kicked in the tush.
Must save ourselves, must save ourselves, yeah, yeah...

He's divided this poor world in two.
Too much pride on his side, our side's turning blue.
Dumb hicks in politics, failures anew.
I'm sick of his lunatics and their point of view.

Who cares what's on the news?
Little to win, and so much to lose!

Good sense in absence, cripplin' mankind.
Dumb king knows nothing, IQ of 9.
John Kerry, it is very clear it's his time.
Incensed at arrogance from Georgie the slime!

Who cares what's on the news?
So much to win, and Georgie must lose!

Incensed, arrogance.
Incensed, arrogance.

Sha la laaaa.
Sha la laaaa.
Sha la laaaa.
Sha la laaaa.
(repeat 'til fade)
The irony is that Kerry was in the Navy when this song came out in the spring of 1967 and probably didn't hear it for years. Bush probably also didn't hear it when it came out, but that's because he was drunk.

"Incense and Peppermints" is excellent music for an angry parody ..... this one works with the original tune quite well.

Michael, Thanks for the mention. Garsh, I'm just awarsh with praise these days. 5's here for a very nice piece of work

It was somewhat amusing, even for a 'right wing nut' like me. Have to give you fives for pacing though. I've been trying to parody this song for weeks now, on any topic whatsoever and the pacing just hasn't worked out for me. Therefore, you get a five overall, just for your hard efforts. In the end, I have to vote 5-3-5.

Sorry, Michael. I realize your obsession with George Bush has led to this parody, and you were right with your comment on my "Love John Kerry" parody that this election will not be decided on whether gay people should be allowed to marry. (but I didn't bring it up originally, the media did and Mr. Kerry will not take a stand on this issue and lots of others). I simply pointed this out. I'm sure that this election will be decided by the voters And then you'll probably still be the most frustrated man in NJ, 'cause that's just your nature.

I did however find your parody somewhat clever with the word play even though the message was angry. I think if you had used your imagination a bit on this you could have even made it humorous. I'll give you 5 for humor, 5 for overall, and a 3 for funny and that is only because of your clever word play. Work on your humor.

Oops - I meant to say 5 for pacing, 3 for funny and 5 for overall. It's late and past my bedtime.

Good rhyming and word play, Michael, even though your points are somewhat far fetched. You are especially stretching the point about Kerry not hearing the song because he was in the Navy. He was on an aircraft carrier from 12/67 to 6/68 and in Vietnam from 12/68 to 4/69, so he would have had plenty of time before and between that service to ponder the meaning of "Incense and Peppermints."

Good job, Michael! I parodied this song back in February 2001: INCENSED REPUBLICANS http://www.amiright.com/parody/misc/strawberryalarmclock0.shtml
