| Parody Song Title: | "Marley the Ghostman" |
| Parody Written by: | Michael Pacholek |
Part 3 of my "Christmas Carol"/Christmas Special series. The song "Frosty the Snowman" preceded the 1969 CBS special by many years. Ebenezer Scrooge and Jacob Marley were partners in what we would today call a savings-and-loan -- ironically, the same business as George Bailey (Jimmy Stewart) in "It's a Wonderful Life." But Marley died seven years before Dickens' story begins. And Scrooge never regretted having the business all to himself. Then one foggy Christmas Eve...
Marley the Ghostman
was a very sorry soul
with a bunch of chains all over him
this was not his post-life goal.
Marley the Ghostman
had a scary tale, they say.
Ebenezer saw and he dropped his jaw
at midnight that Christmas day.
There must have been some tragic in
the life that he unwound
for when he looked Scrooge in the eye
he let out a howling sound!
Marley the Ghostman
not alive a bit, you see.
And he warned his friend of a sorry end
if he'd not heed spirits three.
Marley the Ghostman
he knew Scrooge once had some good.
But so insecure, he became impure
and his heart became like wood.
Down through the village
Scrooge, he had to make a buck.
And the girl he loved, such a pretty dove
well, she's just plain out of luck.
The Ghosts did frown, they led Scrooge down
through present and the past
and when he saw his future home
Ebenezer was aghast!
Marley the Ghostman
had redeemed his friend that day.
And he'll have some fun, blessing everyone
and his heart is back to stay.

FABulous!!! 5s...
That's a dickens of a parody. Very well done, Michael, particularly "post-life goal" and "scary tale" for "fairy tale."
Nice bit of literary parodying...545
