"Cheer Up, Bobby V"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

English soccer fans have often taken "Daydream Believer" and rewritten it for opposing players and managers they particularly dislike: "Cheer up (figure's name -- or shorted to an initial rhyming with E), oh, what can it mean, to a... sad (name of place) bastard and a... (excrement) football team!" This is my somewhat cleaned-up rewrite, as, yesterday, the Boston Red Sox were eliminated from Playoff contention -- their worst season in 15 years. Maybe no manager could have helped them this year. But hiring Bobby Valentine sure didn't help!
(instrumental opening)

Oh, you could beneath the 'stache
as your Mets team turned to ash.
No fix, you're crocked, alarmed, you won no ring.

Went off to land of sunrise.
Got the stars back in your eyes.
You craven crazy soul, man, this stings.

Cheer up, Bobby V.
Oh, what can it mean
to a... sad Boston bastard
and a... bad baseball team?

You once thought of me
as a Yankee wannabe.
Now you know how happy I can be.

Whoa, and a good time starts again
but it will not on your end.
This job, how badly did you really need?

Cheer up, Bobby V.
Oh, what can it mean
to a... sad Boston bastard
and a... bad baseball team?

Cheer up, Bobby V.
Oh, what can it mean
to a... sad Boston bastard
and a... bad baseball tea... ea-ea-eam!

(instrumental break)

Cheer up, Bobby V.
Oh, what can it mean
to a... sad Boston bastard
and a... bad baseball tea... ea-ea-eam!
Cheer up, Bobby V.
Oh, what can it mean
to a... sad Boston bastard
and a... bad baseball tea... ea-ea-eam!

The Kansas City Royals were out of contention by the end of April. We should be so lucky.

I'm not a dirty coach, it's football!

Looks like you hid the word 'hide' - other than that, not bad. You know of course that I am such a rabid baseball fan... ! ;)

I hate this song and always support people who misuse it. I don't know major league well, as an expat Aussie, but nice to see you carrying on the British tradition of 'rubbing it in' to the loser. I think losing is very good for a team's personal development, especially Collingwood in the AFL, and John McEnroe in his halcyon days.
