Parody Song Title:

"Where Has All My Data Gone?"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Todays submissions are two songs with but a single idea... the other one is "There's a hole in my data"
Where have all my files gone?
Long time waiting
Where have all my files gone?
I do not know
Where have all my files gone?
Stored on backup - lucky one
When will we ever work - when can we get to work?

Where have all the backups gone?
Long time waiting
Where have all the backups gone?
I do not know
Where have all the backups gone?
In the fire safe - lucky one
When will we ever work - when can we get to work?

Where's the combination gone?
Long time waiting
Where's the combination gone?
I do not know
Where's the combination gone?
In the files - lucky one
When will we ever work - when can we get to work?

Where have all my files gone?

Pretty good, Phil, though not quite your brilliant best ...

You get a major sympathy vote from this American software engineer! 5's

No matter what period or subject, this Pete Seeger original fits. Great job.

Ever since I posted Where Has All The Farmland Gone, Dodgers, fossils and data have followed. It's a nice thing to see.

Liked the way you circled this one around, Phil! Pip and I started a parody of this song way back in May or so, but never submitted it...

Great job Phil!

Short (hence the 4 on pacing), but sweet.

That's why they call 'em disaster backups. It's a disaster when you lose the combo. Been there, done that and have the T-shirt to prove it. Oh, look, I found the combo, whoa, it's 5L 5R 5L.

Your files may be gone, but your wit remains! I can relate, too. Everyone at work is having computer problems. A Mac even went down last week.

Thanks, all :-) The one "but" is that I've never seen a combination-locked fire safe: they've always had keys. But why let reality get in the way of a parody, eh?
Laurence - I'll take that as a compliment ;-)
Michael - I couldn't wangle in extra steps just to pad it out, so I decided to make it fit the story rather than the other way round: a 4 for pacing's fair...
Tim - IKWYM about seeing other parodies to the same tune that follow ones you've done: it gives one the inner smirk of being ahead of the game...
Mari - That wouldn't be Rick's dirty old Mac, would it?
