The Lyrics

Why'd they go away, those cool-nerd "Whip It" stars?
Did they retire?
Did they expire?
They went away, those cool-nerd "Whip It" stars.
They seemed so wired,
Yet never tired.

But now I can't find those nerd "Whip It" stars.
By them I was inspired,
Imagination fired.
Fellas moved,
Fellas grooved,
Fellas strangely attired.

They moved like automata,
But then, they said "goodbye."
We lost a one-hit wonder;
I must hear "Whip It" or I will sigh.

They moved like automata,
But then, they said "goodbye."
Where have they gone? I wonder.
I must hear "Whip It" or I will sigh.

Like robots their way,
Not like a dervish whirl.
They never tired;
I was inspired.

Robotic way
Was their sex with the girls?
I have inquired.
Were children sired?

Perhaps not inclined to have sex with girls,
But boys, who'd light their fire,
Delighting in a spire
Fellate Drew?
Fellate Hugh?
Fellate Dr. Wayne Dyer?

Their true inamorata?
Who knows? Maybe they're bi.
But that don't to me matter.
I must hear "Whip It" or I will cry.

Hehe, clever. FTR, Mark Mothersbaugh is a highly sought-after TV cartoon composer. He and co-founding member Gerald Casale gave their blessings to a Disney-produced 'tween Devo-cover band called Dev2.0. (believe it or don't!)
