The Lyrics

Eye caught a flitting through the pane
Brain crops culling up fear
See prickled scalpy hair
Just sat scared and wildly screamed
From bed flew (I flew, I flew, I flew, I flew)
Fear-ed wings all flappy (flappy, flappy)
(Shade is blowing very snappy)
Hours I was there - cowering on the stairs

A-bove me darkness swirled
And things with thousand eyes
Did peep from closet sly
Enough of netherworld
Where gleeps and sneets abound
And under bed are found (what's that mound?)

My knees did rapidly jello (jello, jello)
Things supernat'rally
Like wee spooks in bands
Kept me stalked through my darkened home
My fear grew (It grew, it grew, it grew, it grew)
Cannot doze or nappy (nappy, nappy)
(So afraid my crania snappy)
Fouler grew the air, crawlies everywhere!

Brain's stuffed - a dour world
All my synapses fried
Where imps and bats abide
A blust'ry howling herd
Of teeming creepy-kind
Has slipped into my mind (all aligned!)

Thuddingly my pulse-rate grew (weal's undone)
Con-jured inbound demon's spawn (from Styx below)
'Stead all of this strife
Would welcome a prowler or a bear!
But fear grew (Say boo! Say boo! Say boo! Say boo!)
Dreams that played were crappy (crappy, crappy)
('Fraid I had a slight mishap-y)
Boogieman was there, gremlins everywhere!

Fed up with underworld
This beast menagerie
Is just a scream to me
Rebuff this shrouded world
A gruff ghost-ly array
Please exorcise away (crummy day!)

(repeat and fade)

More than just masterful wordplay, it's soundplay! Fabulous syllabic art, hobbits. I especially liked "from Styx below" as a sub for "where did she go"! Absolutely brilliant, the whole thing, very well-written.

Thanks you two, now I have to sleep with my light on tonight. Best parody I've read so far today. Superb! Was this a late halloweenie submission?

This was what we originally wrote, but the record company said it didn't fit our wholesome family image...

I just know this is brilliant, you two, but gee it's tough if you DKTOS, but obviously it's worth 5s (I only know the 1 Cowsills song) :-(

Gremlins in my hair/gremlins everywhere! Hilarious sonic similarities to the original, a song I love to hate. 555!

Thanks all! Stuart and Phil, often people mis-title this song "Flower Girl" or similar. Perhaps you know it by that title?

"I love the flower girl
Oh, I don't know just why
She simply caught my eye..."

I kept looking for the word "Pinky." Not that Brain.
