The Lyrics

Written after driving from Long Island to New Jersey on Mother's day.
Fugedaboudit!
Let me drive you round
Cause we're going to
The B.Q.E.
Or L.I.E.
Backed up on Leffert's Boulevard
Brooklyn or Queens, whatevah

Not Staten Island, the lane's closed
The Verrazano's all I see
Let's stop for an egg cream
Ah, yes now it's all right
But soon I think I'll need to pee

Let me drive you round
Cause we're going to
The B.Q.E.
Or L.I.E.
A tie-up by the shipping yards
Brooklyn or Queens, whatevah

Traffic is heavy on Main Street
In Flushing signs are all Chinese
A pothole slowing me, turn left, no that's all wrong
Oops, here's Odessa-by-the-sea!

Let me drive you round
Cause we're going to
The B.Q.E.
Or L.I.E.
Breakdown on Ocean Avenue
Brooklyn or Queens, whatevah
Brooklyn or Queens, whatevah
Brooklyn or Queens, whatevah

(in background during long fadeout)
I'm very lost...
Whatevah: "Whatever" with an NYC attitude. The B.Q.E. is the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway; the L.I.E. is the Long Island Expressway. Drive at your own risk.

What is it, something like one in four people knows someone in/from Brooklyn? Nice job. Your mistakes are living on Long Island and going to New Jersey.

This is hilarious. However, I have to question your directions: Going through Flushing from L I to N J? Do you enjoy emotional punishment? (or maybe Chinese food?)

Thanks, all! I tried to work in "let's meet at da corner of toidi-toid street and terd avenue at tree pm" but it didn't quite happen. Robert: Actually, I live in Jersey, grew up on the Island. I was trying to get home. Jay: We stopped at Budda Bodai, a veggie Chinese placeon Main Street that's worth the trip to pick up dinner, which we enjoyed once we FINALLY got home. (Now there's a plug for ya!). But don't worry folks--I know my way around better than the person driving in the song!
