The Lyrics

about New Labour's abolishing of 65 as the age of retirement
When I'm much older, thanks to T. Blair
many years from now
waiting for my pension when I'm sixty-nine
I'll retire when I'm not alive
if it's a matter of no money
I'd rather be poor
now you're against me, how you mistreat me
when I'm sixty-four

Lost your voters too, goodbye to Tony Blair
pensioners got screwed
i want to retire, and so do you
now that chance has gone
working in that company to still provide
feel you've been taken for a ride
what about Maxwell? the mess he leaves
chaos it ensures
will it still drain me?, your tax policy
when I'm sixty-four?

Everybody sells their second cottage
finances alright, your funds have been cleared
many bills to pay
new mortgage you will need
sell your car today
In the Post Office, Ev'ry fortnight
no longer a queue
over-80's still work at this time of day
cause they're nearly bankrupt again
and the cashier says "fill in a form"
just because she's bored
nobody needs me, pensions don't greet me
when I'm sixty-four

So true

This song reminds me of how our government has committed White Collar Crime, where they illegally took away our retirement pensions by putting the money to waste. I feel people should be allowed to retire whenever they want, and receive pension at any age! I agree, it's not fair that the government is trying to abolish age 65 as the official age to retire! I would love to help anyone who is interested in helping to prevent this, any way I can! We can write letters to congress, protest, sign petitions, or anything you want that may help! Perhaps it could be a referendum question or initiative on a ballot in a future election, "Should we abolish age 65 as the official age of retirement?"
