The Lyrics

And now, a brief lesson on how we got into the financial mess we're in today...
I'm flat broke, but they've sent me a card
From this credit I'm not barred
I'll buy electronics, TV with flat screen
'Cause I've got a license to spend obscene

Baby you can swipe my card
Without cash this isn't hard
Credit companies on guard
'Cause baby, I'm buying

I bought a fridge and a car and a boat
A grand piano, but I won't gloat
All of this spending, it isn't my fault
'Cause I've got the key to Visa's vault

Baby you can swipe my card
Without cash this isn't hard
Credit companies on guard
'Cause baby, I'm buying

Cheat cheat, cheat cheat, yeah!

Baby you can swipe my card
Without cash this isn't hard
Credit companies on guard
'Cause baby, I'm buying

I'm at the mall and with plastic I pay
I bought a mobile home. Now I just drive away
They send me bills and leave threats on the phone
But I'm living large at "address unknown"

Baby you can swipe my card
Without cash this isn't hard
Credit companies on guard
'Cause baby, I'm moving

Cheat cheat, cheat cheat, yeah!
Cheat cheat, cheat cheat, yeah!
Cheat cheat, cheat cheat, yeah!
Cheat cheat, cheat cheat, yeah!

Cackled aloud at the "beep, beep" substitution. Plus, this is full of great ideas for a part-time slacker like myself! 5-5-5.

great title switch and concept

Dandy twist on the OS. Just keep your new mobile address away from twisters. :-)

Nice to see someone still has plastic to use - a lot of it has dried up. Well done!

Thanks EmiLoca ( I hope I'm not aiding and abetting here...), alvin, Stan and Timmy!

:-) Great title sub - one of those "damn, I wish I'd thought of that" ideas.
MasonR - December 03, 2008 - Report this comment
Thanks, Phil. Actually I always check previous parodies, and was surprised that nobody had tried this idea.

(SOTM) This parody could only have been written in the past 3 years. Pretty clever, I'd say.
MasonR - January 12, 2009 - Report this comment
Thanks Agri, but I'm sure it could have been written earlier, but nobody would have paid any attention. They were too busy overextending their credit!
Matthias - January 13, 2009 - Report this comment
Brilliant idea both in the song and the idea behind the song, although I think that living on the lamb with a credit card would be kinda hard to do, because they would be able to track everywhere you go using that card, and you'll probably be wanted in every state if you did that but I'm sure it's worth it to get free stuff.
MasonR - January 13, 2009 - Report this comment
Thanks Matthias! I obviously hadn't thought through my devious scheme sufficiently to pull it off ;-)
Chris Bodily TM - January 16, 2009 - Report this comment
(SOTM) I love the title sub, the lyrics were extremely witty. Extra credit for "Cheat Cheat" and "Living large at address unknown." LMAO! Your final credit score: 555
Max Power - January 16, 2009 - Report this comment
Max out the credit.
Jake A Ralphing (Luke Brattoni) - January 17, 2009 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Hilarious idea with a great twist at the end. Paced well too.
Peter Andersson - January 18, 2009 - Report this comment
As real money has been replaced by electronic money the centuries old trickle-down-economy has been replaced by trickle-up-bonus-systems-economy, hence the crisis IMHO, but the value of a 555 is still 555 here...
MasonR - January 21, 2009 - Report this comment
Thanks Chris, Max, Jake and Peter!
McKludge - January 27, 2009 - Report this comment
SOTM - So YOU'RE responsible for the credit crisis! Bastard! I'm raising your rate to 55.5%
bobpiecheese - January 30, 2009 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Nice twist at the end there. 555!

(SOTM) I wish you guys in your free anonymous mobile homes would stop clogging up the freeways - great title and idea Mason - some chorus changes would be nice but admittedly there were a lot of them to change - and those grand piano sales charts are startint to look a little shaking moving forward - 555
Jeff Reuben - January 30, 2009 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Timely song. I agree with COP the ending was creative. Well done!
Below Average Dave - January 31, 2009 - Report this comment
(SOTM) The pacing was good, and the idea was good, my only problem here was the grammar was a little. . .we'll say interesting, I know sometimes sacrifices are necessary for the sake of humor, but from a recordability stand point, sometimes that sacrifice can hurt the overall quality.
MasonR - February 05, 2009 - Report this comment
Thanks bobpiecheese, Stuart & Jeff! BAD: thank you for the constructive criticism. I was concerned about the grammar, too, and I'm actually glad to see someone else noticed it.
Joe Siebert - February 09, 2009 - Report this comment
I think I'll swipe my card for a 5.5.5 vote on this one. Good job
Bob - March 18, 2009 - Report this comment
Clever, especially the "cheat cheat yeah" lines. Good substitution on there. Add my perfect vote to the pile.
