The Lyrics

(Boot!)

I buy old laptop
And it movin' too slowly
It not do new recall
It got holey roller
At it I dare not to sneeze
It get one bad joke from me and it will just freeze.

(Boot!)

I swear it do whine
It got no damn install
It one funky stinker
Must boot - in a coma
He may just know me, don't know he
One thing he do tell me is how he wants it to be.

Evil 'puter
Say "Bow
On your knee".

(Brute!)

He has destruction
Not all rust and dumb brute
He got evil aboard
He the final hacker
Got no feet down below his keys
Holds you in your armchair 'til you feel some unease.

Evil 'puter
Say "Bow"
No, not me.

(Shoot!)

It rotor toaster
I give early warning
I done Monday bought her
This one out of kilter
Say the one, the one, the one is ME!
Got to be the real thing 'cos I did pay a fee.

Evil 'puter
Smashed bow
Now I'm free.

(Mute!!)

Evil 'puter
Only 'puter

I kind of stumbled on the broken english, but "Evil 'puter say bow on your knee" was worth it.

Maybe we should call the next edition of Windows not "The Gates of Hell" but "The Hell of Gates."

LOL...Thanks Michael.

Wasn't sure if I needed to leave another vote to show I read it for the SOTM contest, but I still keep my old rating for this.

Thanks Dominic!

[SOTM] DKTOS, but I can fully relate... my computer is windows 98, so I encounter problems like the ones you described above all the time! Nicely done
Adagio - August 08, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks DAK!

(SOTM) Ha ha ha...this one actually made me laugh out loud...and hard! Fantastic job! 5s

Thanks a lot, Charlie!

What gets me is how Adagio's parody suggests the original--the sounds of the words, the nonsense that almost makes sense. Hard as the dickens to do, but he did it. There ought to be a voting category for this; "match the pacing" doesn't say enough.
Adagio - August 09, 2005 - Report this comment
npetrikov, Adagio is one of those confusing handles...the one that I use. I'm really female. That said I can gush like one...I simply LOVE what you wrote. It helps to really like the OS...I've parodied it 4 times.
Agrimorfee - August 10, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Clever, as if Lennon himself came to 2005, learned about computers, and came back to 1968 to tell us all about it.
Adagio - August 10, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks, Agrimorfee.
Peter Andersson - August 12, 2005 - Report this comment
SOTM - Comments function is "out of kilter". Well, not really, I just never heard that expression before, so for me this parody was educational too. :-)
Adagio - August 12, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks, Peter. I guess with all our site's regional sayings, we'll be able to understand every regional difference.

SOTM: I see we got our computers from the same place. Well written, and I can certainly relate.

(SOTM) I didn't have much to say before, but great parody with many wonderful lines that make sense. Oh, if your computer "whines" literally, check to make sure there isn't a wad of dust and cat hair blocking the cooling fan screen. =)
Adagio - August 21, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks Johnny and Red Ant! :)

Thanks Melhi...lol.
Stuart McArthur - August 26, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) LMAO - that is an inspired idea Adagio - for all we know Lennon's indecipherable original words may have been just computer terms in a parallel LSD-induced universe - or that's now my new theory after reading this
Adagio - August 26, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks, Stu! I guess the original COULD mean almost anything, seeing Lennon's foggy state. Who knows?
Jake A Ralphing (Luke Brattoni) - August 26, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) I can associate with this artful abuse, Adagio. I tried installing Office 2000 on my crummy 95 laptop and now it won't even start up without using Safe Mode. Error 555.
Adagio - August 27, 2005 - Report this comment
Ohh...sometimes I just look at them and say "dumb machines". Temperamental $%#& things huh?

Adagio - August 25, 2006 - Report this comment
Thanks Jack. Sounds like a good parody.....it will sound funnier (IMHO) in their halting 'language'.

I wanted to give you 5's but my computer crashed (j/k). Really, this is good, and well-deserved. Way to go!

Btw, you know why a drunk driver made it to heaven and Bill Gates didn't? Because the drunk driver only crashed once!--MM
