| Original Song Title: | "Yellow Submarine" |
| Original Performer: | The Beatles |
| Parody Song Title: | "Acid Trip Machine" |
| Parody Written by: | Phil Alexander |
In the town where I was born
Lived a sixties refugee
And he told us of his life
Out of his head on LSD
So he made a little box
To enlighten us of what he'd seen
And we all fried our brains
In his Acid Trip Machine
[Chorus:]
Free your head in the Acid Trip Machine
Acid Trip Machine, the Acid Trip Machine
Free your head in the Acid Trip Machine
Acid Trip Machine, the Acid Trip Machine
And our friends look rather weird
Look, there's Moira with a beard
And the band becomes a snake...
[Chorus]
As we live a life of E's
Causing terminal (causing terminal)
Brain disease (brain disease)
Sea of blue (Sea of blue)
Sky of green (Sky of green)
In the Acid (In the acid)
Trip Machine (Trip Machine, ha! ha!)
Lived a sixties refugee

Cool parody I always figured you for a hippy ;)
Cool song...very catchy.
lol..nice work Phil
Well, I've often been described as a "refugee of the 60s"... my one question is why is LSD? I mean, it's Lysergic Acid Diethylamide - WTF does the "S" come from???
LySergic acid Diethylamide, that's what I'm guessing.
...I've just done some research - should have done this earlier: Albert Hofmann, who first synthesised the stuff was Swiss: in German, it's Lyserg-Saure-Diathylamid. One more rant to tick off :-)
i need some acid NOW
Ever wonder why the group "Yes", in their hit song "Roundabout", included this seemingly meaningless line:
"24 before my love, you'll see"
Well.....the Swiss scientist, Albert Hofmann, who first synthesized LSD and accidentally discovered its hallucinogenic effects, had been doing a whole series of lysergic acid synthesis experiments, one after another, varying the molecular structure of the end-product a litte bit each time.....Albert started with LSD-1, then synthesized LSD-2, LSD-3, LSD-4, etc., until he reached the famous molecule that changed the world and blew his mind: LSD-25.

Oh and Phil, by the way - 555 mcg for this great parody, man...
Nope, the thought of "the twenty-fourth variant on lysergic acid" never occurred to me... whether it would have done if I'd actually remembered any of my Yes lyrics is something about which I can only speculate :-)
I hear ya, Phil. Yes lyrics are weird enough already. I just thought it was a whimsical fantasy to think that Yes might possibly have meant to imply that "my love is LSD-25 and there are 24 before my love" ..... just a goofy little imagining of my own....
Probably comes rather close to describe the making of the original song...
