The Lyrics

Nobody steers, but look at that car go
Rolling around in parking lot B
Not really strange for downtown Chicago
Everyone knows it's windy..

Watch all the sparrows sway on the highline
Girls in long dresses - holding their knee
So strong a breeze that bent is the skyline
Chi Town is always windy..

It's windy around The Loop
Just blew by, a boy scout troop
Winds whistle old songs by Frank
Near Jilly's Bar, (cool winds they are)
By Jilly's Bar, (cool winds they are)

It's windy out on Rush street
Braced tight are the cops on beat
Winds make all the flags fly neat
Kids with skateboards (surf on sidewalks)
Hold high their coats (surf on sidewalks)

Long willow branches bend low in Grant Park
Buckingham Fountain sprays - and folks flee
Roar of the trains drift from Union Station
Chicago's always windy..

Chicago's always windy

And down by The Biograph
Hear Dillinger's ghostly laugh
Caught in federal agent's trap
Haunting are winds (haunting are winds)
Paid for his sins ( Red Lady grins)

Hear Mrs. O'Leary now,
She yells at her clumsy cow
That caused the big fire, wow!
Old history (while winds blow free)
Old history (while winds blow free)

And over at Wrigley Field,
The batter, Babe Ruth - won't yield
Calls homeruns and deal is sealed
Cheers from the crowd (cheers from the crowd)
Winds blow it loud ( Yankees are proud)

See all the sparrows sway on the highline
Girls in long dresses - holding their knee
So strong a breeze, that bent is the skyline
Chi Town is always windy..

Chicago's always windy...

Playful and fun, like the song. Fave line; 'Just blew by, boy scout troop'. Nice range of images here. A non-American whose never been to Chicago would be familiar with most of them. Well, I am, lol. 555s blowing your way.

Masterfully done-555! Although when I last went there it was more like the "Gritty City" ;-)

On the founding of Chicago. About two hundred years ago a group of New Yorkers gathered at Tammany Hall started talking amongst themselves -- You know, we love the corruption and rampant crime and the pollution and the cutthroat attitude, but damn it's just nowhere near cold enough here in the winter
