Hello darkness, my old friend
Sleeping in class once again
Because the teacher was so boring
I find that I am now snoring
It was all just too much for my tired brain
Gone again
I hear the sound of silence

Teacher tries to wake me up now
I'm too far gone to wake somehow
Other students laugh at it, yeah
But they'll soon be the next victims, ha
Sleeping during monotones beneath fluorescent lights
It feels like night
They hear the sound of silence

Now, the class ended long ago
But I'm still in the room, whoa
No one told me it had ended
And the classroom- they all left it
No one thought to wake me up, tell me the news
Yeah, while I snoozed
So I heard sounds of silence

And yeah, I missed the next class
Went to the following one fast
Had to get all the notes and all
That I missed while I slept by the wall
Because my teacher sounds like Ben Stein
Wasted time
I heard sounds of silence

I was also real tired
From writing all those papers
And studying for all the tests
That made me really need to rest
And even after I got stuff from the vending machines,
More caffeine
To intervene
Still only heard the sounds of silence
