The Lyrics

I've been up here in Northern California visiting my old friends, Ray & Lori. Every Saturday (with occasional exceptions) their Grandson, Tristin (8 years old) comes to visit and stays overnight. He's a great kid with lots of energy (of course). I like him; you ask him something and he tells you what he thinks without any BS or malice. Oh...he calls Ray "Poppa", a term from back when he was small. So...I wrote him a parody 'cause he's so cool and they love him so much.
Hey, man it is Saturday night
Gonna have some fun, alright
'Cause he brightens up our day
Tristin, tonight, OK!
Gonna have a lot of fun
Hangin' out with our Grandson
Talk and play and watch him run
Tristin, on Saturday

Here's Tristin, Tristin, everybody's feeling great
Yeah, Tristin, Tristin, Saturday night, OK!
He is gonna laugh and play
Overnight he's gonna stay
Grandma Lori, Poppa Ray
Love havin' Tristin stay
We are gonna play some games
Always happy that he came
When he's gone it's not the same
Love it when Tristin stays

Yeah, Tristin, Tristin, when he's here it sure is great
Oh, Tristin, Tristin, it's Saturday night, OK!
It makes us smile!
We talk, we yak
It's fun, oh yeah
Now you see, we're high On Tris

Yeah, Tristin each Saturday
We played some Monopoly
Tristin wiped us out; complete
Kicked our butts; could not compete, he
wiped us out right away-ay
Tristin plays the game to win
Every roll and every spin
It's so cool to watch him grow
Tristin, each Saturday

Yeah, Tristin, Tristin, when he's here it sure is great
Oh, Tristin, Tristin, each Saturday night, OK!
Every time!
We play, we yak
Have fun, oh yeah!
You can see our smiles, from Tristin
Tristin, he makes our day!

That's sweet, Paul, to think of a little kid and write him his own song. And, I knew the OS. :D 5's

Yeah, not bad for a totally jaded old fart. Thanks, guys - appreciate it...I hadn't played Monopoly in about 40-some odd years. He really did kick our butts, too...didn't make it up...

I might be in the minority, but this type of parody is terrific to share with the family and has no place at amiright.

Millard, you're entitled to your opinion. I disagree, I think there's plenty of room for different types of pieces on "amiright". I don't write too many of these, but I didn't think a little gentle family-type piece would hurt anyone. I didn't write it with the intent of posting it. I probably wouldn't have posted it here under normal circumstances, but with all the political enmity floating around now I thought it might serve as a reminder of some of the other things in life that really matter. But I respect your stance and I appreciate your honesty in judging my work. Thanks.

what a perfect scan onto the original! and how great must Tristan have felt when you told him there was a song about him on the internet - that alone justifies it, Millard - 555

My God, how dopey am I?? in the previous comment please replace the words "555" with the words "Stuart McArthur"..........I'm just glad I'm not challenging Tristan at Monopoly in my current state of vagueness
Paul Robinson - October 26, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks, Stuart...or "555", if that is your real name. Seriously, I appreciate the supportive comment. Tristin hasn't seen it yet although "Grandma Lori" & "Poppa Ray" have. They will probably show it to him when he is over this coming Saturday. They got a huge kick out of, though, and I'm pretty sure he will too.
