The Lyrics

Rest in peace, Norman Fell and Audra Lindley, who played Stanley and Helen on "Three's Company" and the ill-advised spinoff "The Ropers." As Jeffrey Tambor's character on the latter series said, "They're really a very nice couple. Except for him. And her." How in the world did they ever get together?
Your Stanley doesn't love you

anymore.

Golden days have seen their end.
Blown away into the wind.
Your Stanley doesn't need you
anymore.

No hanky-panky will you find.
Your aging hubby ain't too kind.
Your Stanley doesn't want you
anymore.
He's Roper.

It breaks your heart in two
to know he's so cuckoo.
But oh, what will you do
when he says to you,
"Viagara! Whoo!
Yoo-hoo!
Helen, yoo-hoo!"

It's Roper!
It's Roper!
It's Roper!

But that's nineteen seventy-eight.
For you, Viagra was too late.
Your Stanley don't have interest anymore.

Maybe take a tip from Jack.
But Stanley thinks that he's "brokeback."
So now to you, he returns.
That's a fact!

It's Roper! It's Roper! It's Roper!

It's Roper!
And how did the producers of "The Golden Girls" -- including "Three's Company" vets Paul Junger Witt and Tony Thomas -- never cast her in even one episode, say, as a comic rival for Beatrice Arthur? (At least she was on an episode of "Maude" with Bea.)

In (possible) answer to your last question, maybe Audra Lindley respectfully declined because she didn't want to play another "old" character. Luckily, we got to see her for the last time, playing Phoebe's grandma on "Friends".
