Song Parodies -> MacArthur Park Meltdown
| Original Song Title: | "MacArthur Park" |
| Original Performer: | Richard Harris |
| Parody Song Title: | "MacArthur Park Meltdown" |
| Parody Written by: | Royce Miller |
The original lyrics to this song are funny, to me--but I decided to try and write something serious
Spring has no more magic for us here
This pretty park was trashed
By some dumb neanderthals
Between the hedges there are soda bottles, tires and candy
wrappers--
And some dirty overalls
MacArthur Park is melting in the dark
There's some sticky green goo growing now
Someone said it looks like acid rain
I don't think that I can take it, it was my favorite place to picnic
There will never be another place like this
Oh, no!
I recall those yellow butterflies
Foaming like a wave
On the ground around my knees
Now all the butterflies have gone, they up and flew away
And plastic bags hang in the trees
MarArthur Park is melting in the dark
All that sticky goo is glowing, now
Someone said it looks like acid rain
I don't think that I can take it, it was my favorite place to picnic
There will never be another place like this
Oh no!
There won't be another earth like this
If we all trash it
There won't be another work of art
If we all smash it
We must tend to Earth while it is ours
And never catch ourselves trashing it like pigs
After all, our children must live here
They must live here
We must take this Earth into our hands
So we can use it
We must treasure everything we have
Or we will lose it
Then we'll have the things we desire
And the rivers will flow like crystal to the sea
Then at the end of our lives
Then at the end of our lives
Our children will have a place to be
This pretty park was trashed
By some dumb neanderthals
Between the hedges there are soda bottles, tires and candy
wrappers--
And some dirty overalls
MacArthur Park is melting in the dark
There's some sticky green goo growing now
Someone said it looks like acid rain
I don't think that I can take it, it was my favorite place to picnic
There will never be another place like this

Very Good. Fits very well, as this is the way th song should have been. Keep it up.
