The Lyrics

Deep in my heart, I did not believe we would overcome someday. But we have! Hallelujah! Ding-dong, the tyrant is gone! George W. Bush? No, Jack-FM! They gave up the ghost, and brought back the greatest radio station ever! Including some of the fired jocks! I guess WABC stars turned WCBS-FM legends Cousin Brucie and Dan Ingram are making more money with Sirius Satellite Radio, and besides, in their early 70s, they've done their bit for king (Elvis) and country (the Republic of Rock and Roll).
(instrumental opening)

(Mike)
Hit the road, Jack!
And don't you come back
no more
no more
no more
no more!
Hit the road, Jack!
And don't you come back no more!

(DJ)
One-oh-one!

(Mike)
Hit the road, Jack!
And don't you come back
no more
no more
no more
no more!
Hit the road, Jack!
And don't you come back no more!

(DJ)
Well, people, oh, people, Jack-FM was absurd.
Was the meanest old station that I ever heard.
And all of you said so!
And that's why they had to go!

(Mike)
That's right!
Hit the road, Jack!
And don't you come back
no more
no more
no more
no more!
Hit the road, Jack!
And don't you come back no more!

(DJ)
One-oh-one!

(Mike)
Hit the road, Jack!
And don't you come back
no more
no more
no more
no more!
Hit the road, Jack!
And don't you come back no more!

(DJ)
Them oldies, them oldies, that what we will play
just like we did way back in the day!

(Mike)
That Jack-FM never understood
that boy-band synth-pop, it just ain't no good!

(DJ)
And all of you said so!
And that's why they had to go!

(Mike)
That's right!
Hit the road, Jack!
And don't you come back
no more
no more
no more
no more!
Hit the road, Jack!
And don't you come back no more!

(DJ)
One-oh-one!

(Mike)
Hit the road, Jack!
And don't you come back
no more
no more
no more
no more!
Hit the road, Jack!
And don't you come back no more!

(DJ)
Well!

(Mike)
And don't you come back no more!

(DJ)
That's what y'all say!

(Mike)
And don't you come back no more!

(DJ)
Jack never understood you!

(Mike)
And don't you come back no more!

(DJ)
CBS-FM!

(Mike)
And don't you come back no more!

(DJ)
One-oh-one-point-one-F-M!

(Mike)
And don't you come back no more!
(repeat 'til fade)
For those of you still stuck with wack radio, this is like the Berlin Wall coming down! This is like the 1994-95 baseball strike being settled! This is like the Bush Administration ending! Well, the Nixon Administration, anyway. (Ironically, Cousin Brucie's last show on WABC, the former greatest radio station ever, was on August 7, 1974, the day before Nixon announced his resignation.)

CBS-FM is back--a miracle!--and sounds better than ever! As a long-time NY radio junkie this is a great moment. As someone who fits in the older demographic (50 yrs old) I also see CBS-FM's return as a victory for Old F*rts. Anyone who doesn't know what the fuss is about can listen online at wcbsfm.com. (I'm not affiliated with them, but I am a BIG fan!) It's what great radio should sound like.

Jack still airs in Chicago in a similar situation like with WCBS. Jack really sucks...I listen to locally-based The 9 (weplayanything.com) because they really do play anything!

Cute parody. Those who gave you 1's on how funny or on overall ratings are probably either under 30 or they're not New Yorkers! Still, although I'm no great fan of 1950s music, especially doo-wop, not having the 50s stuff diminishes the station, IMHO. Still, welcome back, WCBS-FM P.S. I opened a window for the online stream!

how about that CBS-FM Parody when they came back? You know: "CBS-FM is back now! Jack moved to HD and he's commercial free (e-ee!) On with the greatest hits now! We read all your letters hope your feeling better!" was the chorus
