Song Parodies -> One Ton Tomato

Original Song Title:

"Guantanamera"

Original Performer:

Pete Seeger

Parody Song Title:

"One Ton Tomato"

Parody Written by:

Joe Haynes

I like Pete Seeger's rendition of this song, but regardless of which artist performed it, it always sounded like "one ton tomato". Ane being Seeger, it has to be political.
One Ton Tomato, go eat a One Ton Tomato
One Ton Tomato, go eat a One Ton Tomato

I am a washed up singer from the '60's
Reduced to singing in Spanish
I am a washed up singer from the '60's
Reduced to singing in Spanish

No one remembers the Weavers
During the age of the Cleavers.

One Ton Tomato, go eat a One Ton Tomato
One Ton Tomato, go eat a One Ton Tomato

When signing with Peter, Paul, and Mary
We would puff the magic dragon
When signing with Peter, Paul, and Mary
We would puff the magic dragon

Joan Baez, Arlo and Willie Guthrie
Are now just as obscure as me.

One Ton Tomato, go eat a One Ton Tomato
One Ton Tomato, go eat a One Ton Tomato

My politics are so far out in left field
And plagiarism's the basis of all culture
My politics are so far out in left field
And plagiarism's the basis of all culture

And thinking back to Winston Churchill
I'm over 20 and have no brain.

One Ton Tomato, go eat a One Ton Tomato
One Ton Tomato, go eat a One Ton Tomato

The line about plagiarism is a direct quote. Check out wikipedia.com. Winston Churchill stated that anyone under 20 years old and not a liberal is heartless. Those over 20 and are still liberal have no brain.

Winston Churchill was right. And this is a very done (except for "signing"), albeit nostalgic, parody. Keep them coming, Joe.

It's Woody, not Willie Guthrie. I don't think his politics are way off. He's always been able to speak out and his ideas I think still hold true today. Plus I've met him.

Very funny. Pete Seeger may be a good folk singer/ songwriter, but anyone who can say with a straight face that Mumia Abu Jamal is a political prisoner who's as innocent as the freshly fallen snow deserves to be ridiculed.

Winston Churchill was a war criminal who had factories in Germany producing weapons for the Germans during the war. He was Reicht all right. Seeger rules and this parody sucks.
