Song Parodies -> Puff the Tragic Drag Act
| Original Song Title: | "Puff the Magic Dragon" |
| Original Performer: | Peter Paul and Mary |
| Parody Song Title: | "Puff the Tragic Drag Act" |
| Parody Written by: | Phil Alexander |
[Chorus]
Puff, the tragic drag act lived by in LA
And frolicked dressed in women's clothes in the land of USA
All the tabloid papers loved that rascal Puff,
And printed lots of stories - yes they couldn't get enough
All around he'd travel, clothed as a female
With herds of paparazzi running close upon his trail
Noble kings and princes came too, just to be seen
I guess it's not surprising kings and princes love a Queen, oh
[Chorus]
All around the country, folks would know his name
Just like Warhol said he had his fifteen minutes' fame
One grey night it happened, the Papers said no more
And Puff that tragic drag act finally was shown the door
His head was bent in sorrow, his clothes torn, but still pink
Puff he hit the bottle hard, to drown his woes in drink
Without his name on page one, Puff suffered mental strife
Until he wrote his memoirs - "How AA saved my life", oh
[Final Chorus]
Puff, the tragic drag act lived by in LA
And frolicked dressed in women's clothes in the land of USA
All the tabloid papers showed they'd had enough
Well, what do you expect if you've a stupid name like "Puff"?

My my, that's quite a punchline. First parody today that actually made me laugh out loud, kudos.
Ha! I've been rumbled: I started with the "what do you expect if you've a stupid name like Puff" line, and worked back from there...
Terrific---I've had to perform this piece on Piano so many times that it was nice to see it taken as a joke...ow I can sing THESE lyrics with it
