The Lyrics

...a rose parade float parody...going to las vegas...see you all in about a week
slappin' roses on till moored
flowers applied till there ain't no more to go
acres, they sow...lord, how they grow
when its float time, they adorn these babies

touchin' up till midnight came
paint, it appears, when prepared, but that's so wrong
perfume is strong...its flowers they want
no weeds if you please
only plants with a fancy plume

oh, i love my rosy ride
hued in a way so gay and happy
viewed with glee...they roll in style
stack 'em in rows...till the float is summoned
its smiles that they bring...down the street a-comin'
the stagers are eager, all night they're runnin' on

spray it now
spray it now
spray it now
no daisies !

slappin' roses in a pile
whirls of fantastic flowers...fat and bright
they work through the night...to get the things right
looks like a dream, when they're finally festooned, yeah

oh, i love my rosy ride
hued in a way so gay and happy
viewed with glee...they roll in style
stack 'em in rows...till the float is summoned
its smiles that they bring...down the street a-comin'
the stagers are eager, all night they're runnin' on

spray it now
spray it now
spray it now
no daisies !

slappin' roses in a pile
whirls of fantastic flowers...fat and bright
they work through the night...to get the things right
looks like a dream, when they're finally festooned, yeah

Stick with the nickel nippers, and bypass those "Abe" grabber' slots...have a nice time, and good luck!

Alvin, this excellent parody reminds me of the time that I worked on a high-school parade float, which was based on a Datsun B210 and was covered with flowers, paper-mache and banners, and which I drove and nearly wrecked twice. 5s.

Burbank's was a self built float, but so was Sierra Madre's which was so much nicer. Burbank should be ashamed.

Great write, however, I prefer rootbeer floats, Sir Alvin!

Have a great time in Vegas! Oh, how I'd love to ride on that rose float! "I got you a rose that's good to your nose." That line was from the first poem I wrote when I was in 7th grade. Here's an arrangement of 5 red roses, 5 yellow roses, and 5 white roses.

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Florid and funny.

Alvin, although you're probably not going to be here to read this for a while, I would advise you to stay away from the slots, because I have always lost more than I won, away from roulette, because the tables are often rigged to deliver losing spins, and away from any kind of three-card monte or similar games, because they are intended for the sole purpose of taking your money. Anything else should be considered advisable only if you are confident in your skills and/or luck and if the dealer doesn't look sleazy. That advice comes from my experience in Indian casinos in several states, including Oregon, and in Reno. I hope your vacation is fun, and that you don't lose all your money!
