| Parody Song Title: | "The Manager Takes Me Away, Ha-Ha!" |
| Parody Written by: | Michael Pacholek |
Dedicated to Scott Proctor and Kyle Farnsworth, who helped to doom the New York Yankees' postseason hopes in 2006, and may do so again in 2007, unless general manager Brian Cashman comes to his senses and dumps them. Grapefruit League: Spring training games played in Florida, as opposed to those played in Arizona, the Cactus League. So there's this pitcher, and he throws about 98 miles an hour, but can't get the ball over the plate, and when he does, it gets hit way out for a home run, and the manager comes out of the dugout to pull him off the mound. And... he's coming to take him away, oy vey, he's coming to take him away...
Remember in the Grapefruit League
when I would take the mound and then
you'd be impressed at how my pitches worked?
Well...
You put me on the mound and then
the games got worse and worse and now
I see I'm driving you right out of your mind!
And...
You're coming to take me away!
Ha-ha!
You're coming to take me away!
Ho-ho!
He-he!
Ha-ha!
To the locker room
where I'll discover it's shower time!
And I'll be happy to see
those nice young men with their clean white towels
and you're coming to take me away!
Ha-ha!
You thought it was a choke
but did not laugh
when I would walk the bases full
and then would throw a wild pitch!
Right?
And one run scored, and two runs scored
and now to leave me in would prove
it's you, not me, who has gone utterly mad!
And...
You're coming to take me away!
Ha-ha!
You're coming to take me away!
Ho-ho!
He-he!
Ha-ha!
To the minor leagues
with old ballparks in smaller towns
where I'll face batters half my age
and still won't find the plate
and you're coming to take me away!
Ha-ha!
I throw the ball, I throw so hard
and this is how you pay me back
for fastballs ninety-nine miles an hour?
Huh?
Well, you just wait, they'll fire you yet
and when they do, they'll put you on
the ESPN show, you lousy bum!
And...
You're coming to take me away!
Ha-ha!
You're coming to take me away!
Ho-ho!
He-he!

Home run on a tough one to hit.
I love a good baseball parody
your ERA is 5.55 today
Oh, good, Alvin, that means it's lower than Proctor's and Farnsworth's!
What John B said
Interestingly, both Farnsworth and Proctor have ERAs lower than 5.55 (as of today), but future Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera does not. But I have to be impressed by the optimistic attitude of the author thinking that the only thing standing between the Yankees and the playoffs is these two mediocre relief pitchers.
