the first one i remember croakin'
was my mom from poison, chokin'
and this young 'un screamed...all swollen up with pride
in a hotel outside town
is where mom and i are found
and i guess i've been insane since mama died

one and only rebel child
with a mama, mean and riled
and lord, she makes me do some awful chores
when its for a gal, i'm yearnin'
mama's temper starts to burnin'
and she'll bug me till i cannot stand no more

and now i'm sittin' here in prison
doin' life without parole
i haven't been quite right
since mama died...she's inside
mama's dead and gettin' deader
she's all dry and mummified
but she lives on in my brain...though mama died

this poor guest, here, bless her soul
made my mama lose control
she died so very young....she paid her dues
worked for hours, in distress
cleanin' up that bloody mess
when my mama starts to fight, i can't refuse
