The Lyrics

From this thread on the messageboard. Says it all, really.
Tea party smarty farty, dumb Christian right
Tea party smarty farty, dumb Christian right

Commie-fascist-socialist-Marxist-totalitarian
Even though the sound of him is really quite a scary 'un
Running a dictatorship that's really libertarian
And he's Muslim-Christian-Jew-Satanist-Rastafarian

Tea party smarty farty, dumb Christian right
Tea party smarty farty, dumb Christian right

Because he's not Republican (and not completely white)
Obama's a hate-figure for the loony Christian-right
With all the names they're calling him, it's getting kind of fun
As they show up their lack of brains and educa-shee-un

He's
Commie-fascist-socialist-Marxist-totalitarian
City boy who hates the country has become agrarian
Could it be they hate him 'cause he isn't white and Aryan?
Allah-loving atheistic Zeus-mad Pastafarian

Tea party smarty farty, dumb Christian right
Tea party smarty farty, dumb Christian right

And though he is the President, there's no need for dismay
Because all that you need is to see things another way:
Obama's been called every single name under the Sun
I'm sure if you look carefully, you must agree with one

He's
Commie-fascist-socialist-Marxist-totalitarian
Kenyan and Hawaiian and quite probably Hungarian
Upper-class, elitist and distinctly proletarian
Far too young, too middle-aged, or too octogenarian

Commie-fascist-socialist-Marxist-totalitarian

An excellent summary of the bad qualities of Obama, but not of the Tea Party's motives (government debt and overreaching control). Surveys show that TPs include much more than uneducated Caucasian Christian Aryan racists. 5-1-3
McKludge - April 27, 2010 - Report this comment
The problem with the tea party-ers is that they don't really have a specific motive. They are a collection of people scared that the world is changing and frustrated that no one is listening to them. Beyond their ability to all show up at the same location, they really don't have any organization.

Sadly, for every person at their rallies who rails against the increasing debt (which is a valid point) there is a birther holding an Obama-as-Hitler sign.

We don't want leadership, we want to be left alone to take care of ourselves. I've seen the photos and read the words of national unity, everyone goose-stepping to the same tune, one Volk, one Nation, one Führer. I'm not only in favor of diversity when it comes to things one can't control, such as skin color and sexual orientation, but in those things one can control, such as education, work, earning, spending. To most questions, freedom is the answer.

Tea party is NOT typical of Christians. I know many Christians and they are NOT hate mongerers, NOT racists, NOT all Republicans although most generally agree with Republicans on social issues (and usually only that), NOT uneducated, and mostly supportive of whatever government when they can be but hoping that good decisions are made in their opinion, like most people. The Tea party is NOT representative of Christians, very few Christians would be like that and I'd doubt they're even Christians, just people who say they are.
McKludge - April 27, 2010 - Report this comment
I'm not sure that Phil was saying any of that, Blargg. I (and I think Phil would) agree that all Christians are not tea partiers, but all tea-partiers are Christian. It's like saying all lesbians are women, but all women are not lesbians.

I won't even touch the argument of who really is a Christian and who isn't.

Ok, that's just what I was getting from this parody which apparently can really be misunderstood.

I'm still laughing, Phil! This is the kind of tongue-in-cheek political humor that's been missing. p.s...this Christian ain't offended at all. You go, boy!
Phil Alexander - April 27, 2010 - Report this comment
Barry - You really think that? Seriously?

McK - Yep, I think that pretty much summarizes it.. add in a media which thinks the crackpots are more interesting to report on, and you have the outflowing of ridiculousness we're seeing

Patrick - congratulations: Godwinned in the third comment

Blargg - As McK points out, the "Christian Right" that is so vocal is no more representative of all Christianity than I am (and most of the time, I don't think they're right, either). I thought it was just a bit of fun (that came about because of a comment by Cat on the messageboard: "Don't you know that he is a commie, fascist, socialist, Marxist, totalitarian?" and I thought it scanned rather well.

NorCalTP - I'm guessing there's a tune that I'm missing.. what would that be?
