The Lyrics

This song was written for fun, and I had planned on doing another one for Ages Event 9--but I am rather happy with this one. Hear it at Soundclick.com as always. SIDENOTE: This is the FIRST song I've done that is of one that predates my mother, Hope she doesn't take that the wrong way if she ever sees this:)
Don't Download Me
I'm not your typical MP3
Don't Download Me
My songs are really not too classy

And Don't say I sound a fool
And Don't tell me "What a Waste"
And Please If you hate this too
You made a choice to hit play

Cause
You have heard Me
It's not like I've changed in anyway
You Download Me
cause my fun style will never change

I just want to be myself
I won't be like no one else
So if I make a mistake
Please know I'm not a flake

I've tried, hope I'll impress you
I dream, just like all of you do
To try to be the best I can be
To make you laugh and be all happy

Just laugh and enjoy the mood
My voice may not be in tune
So please, if you think it sounds crude
Bite your tongue, and laugh as I croon

I don't want to be a brag
I don't wanna act a-fool
So loosen up and enjoy yourself
Cause that's what us parodists do

This song, will fade out till it's done
So just go download this new song
because I do all this for fun
but I don't know long I'll go on.
Thank you all as always, check me out at Soundclick and badave.com which should be up any day now.

I don't know how you feel, but I heard a lot of people saying that your voice does sound a tad faint. All you should say is, "It's My Recording, and I'll sing how I want to. Sing how I want to. Sing how I want to"

Actually Matthias, the people I'm refering to really aren't on Am I Right, but this was fun to do, kind of an I'm Going To Have Fun, No Matter What! declaration--and this one was. . .and they have said that a few times, of course that's because if I'm not distant or faint in my songs, they sound like a big poof at the beginning of every sentence, and I don't have nylons nor will I buy pantehose to do that (you know I'm in the dating scene at the moment, and it's one thing to be messy, it's another to have a pantehose tied around a mic to reduce poof--somehow I don't think people will believe that unless they happen to be recording artists themselves:)) No, I receive some emails now and then that are trivial thing but from people who say "You are really funny, but next time can you be a little louder" or "You aren't bad, but you should have sang it in the original octave" (that one was to "Squinting in the Dark". . .which I was in the octave, but I know what he meant--it was about the screaming. . .I don't scream--it hurts my voice) Anyway, no, the people here have been very receptive, but it was a fun one to do. .:)

I thought it was great and applaud anyone who puts him/herself 'out there' as you do on a regular basis... Good on you!

B.A.D., you can buy a pop filter on Musicians Friend for $10-$15 dollars, and use the pantyhose for more interesting things... :-)

I've always loved your mp3's, the background music is Midi file, but they're always awesome, ESPECIALLY cause you have sung EVERY one of your songs. I can't wait to record mine and get hate mail. YAY! Hate mail! 5-5-5 Loved it

(AGES) A fine anthem about parody writing and performing. (not exactly fitting the theme proscribed for this round, but a 555 nonetheless.)

Well--Agri, thank you--but I do have to point out that Technology is a broad category, and Downloads and Mp3s--which are a large part of my work--are technology--I can see why on first look it may not seem to be about Technology.

This would be even funnier if you made it about a virus, but still a good laugh!

Hi Dave, here and elsewhere you sound a bit peeved at my comment. I hope you aren't taking it to heart...I do understand why you placed the song in this contest, it was just IMHO that the parody was more involved with the process and (quite rightly and also felt by myself) the unfettered joy of songwriting than a discussion of technology. Let it also be known that that didn't have a bearing on the vote that I ended up giving on this round. Peace, Dave, hope all is well for you.

That was hilarious, 5s

(Ages) I guess, similar to Agri's comment, when I started reading along, I thought the song was going to be from the MP3 file's point of view. "I'm not your typical MP3". But I got with the program eventually, and a great way to tell off your naysayers BAD! You keep recording, and we'll keep laughing.

And that's laughing with you, BTW. :-)

This turned out to be a good song even though I helped with the line "I'm not your typical MP3".
