Original Song Title:

"Green Tambourine"

Original Performer:

Lemon Pipers

Parody Song Title:

"Keen Timbre's Mean"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

Keen: wail. Timbre (pronounced TAM-ber): the quality of a tone. L'chaim: "To life," Hebrew/Yiddish; salut: "hail," French; prost: "cheers," German; auld lang syne: "the good times," Scottish (literally "old long ago").
Plug your ears up when I start to keen.
It will sound like an unearthly scream.
It hurts plenty when I start to sing.
Listen and eardrums break--
My keen timbre's mean

I sing--you won't dance or say "L'chaim,"
"Salut," "prost," or even "auld lang syne."
You'll give me coins and bills not to sing.
You'll tell me: "Go away!
Your keen timbre screams!"

(Eardrum break)

I collect the dimes and walk away,
Get on a plane and head for L.A.
To audition for Simon, queen
Bitch who'll judge me today.
Like him, my timbre's mean.
