| Original Song Title: | "All Along The Watchtower" |
| Original Performer: | Jimi Hendrix |
| Parody Song Title: | "Don't Try And Sell Me The Watchtower" |
| Parody Written by: | Colin Bailey |
Any Jehovah's witnesses out there?
The Knocking, it was persistent,
He was left with no choice:
Can I speak for a moment?
Came a soft persuasive voice.
Tradesmen they may duck and dive
Salesmen they might whine
But Jehovah's witnesses...
Catch you time after time
Don't try and sell me the Watchtower!
Said the Victim with a groan
There are many here amongst us
Who just want to be left alone
All the wrongs will be righted
The woman, she seemed so sure
As he noticed with a shock
Her foot wedged in the door
They must be some way out this
He thought through gritted teeth
His mind was going numb now
He could find no release.
Don't try and sell me the Watchtower!
His protests, now feeble and thin
His eyes had that hunted look
His mind was growing dim….
"There may be some contusions"
Said the Sergeant in disbelief
"I think we're talking false ones now;
He took a poker to her teeth!"
But at his trial he seemed real keen
To just be locked away
"My Karma ran over her Dogma"
Was all that he would say….
He was left with no choice:
Can I speak for a moment?
Came a soft persuasive voice.
Tradesmen they may duck and dive
Salesmen they might whine
But Jehovah's witnesses...
Catch you time after time
Don't try and sell me the Watchtower!
Said the Victim with a groan
There are many here amongst us
Who just want to be left alone
All the wrongs will be righted
The woman, she seemed so sure
As he noticed with a shock
Her foot wedged in the door
They must be some way out this

His mind was going numb now
He could find no release.
Don't try and sell me the Watchtower!

Fantastic storyline. Great wordplay off the original.
Great title. Great parody.
I'm laughing
It would be a sin not to give this a five.
Rightously funny stuff! 5 knocks
I don't agree with your point of view, but I give you credit for good writing. Have an open mind.
For my generation Jimi Hendrix (and Bob Dylan) are the Holy Grail of guitar playing and lyric writing. Never really gone for for religion.... but Ideals and Icons and Idealisms and ideology are there to be challenged. Better a kid with a spraycan than an adult with a machine gun... Yay words!
Great job on this parody, but they give, not sell you, the Watchtower.
Like the Watchtower, these fives are free....
Was just thinking of writing similarly themed song but you did it so well I'm passing - Good job :-) ps nothings free - we pay one way or t'other ;-P
