Original Song Title:

"Thanks for the Memory"

Original Performer:

Frank Sinatra

Parody Song Title:

"Tranqs for My Nemeses"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

Bob Hope's theme song was written by composer Ralph Rainger and lyricist Leo Robin for Hope's first feature film, "The Big Broadcast of 1938." The 1937 copyright on the song was renewed in 1964 by Paramount Music Corp., when, as far as I can tell, Old Blue Eyes' recorded his version, on which this parody is based.
Tranqs for my nemeses,
It seems they're all on meth,
Can't stop to take a breath,
And when they peak, they start to speak
And bore me near to death.
Unlucky I am.

So tranqs for my nemeses,
They'll slumber silently,
Downers are the key,
Hypothalamus undone,
Top it off--give 'em some tea.
How dozy they are.

And when they wake up, I take up
A syringe, that steely, slim stick-shaft,
Grab a gam, stab, and jam in a raft,
Fifteen CC. . .tranquility.

Yes, tranqs for my nemeses,
A needle and a pill
Will help keep 'em still,
If they get hot, provide 'em pot
Or give 'em shots to swill.

Tranqs for my nemeses,
Must keep 'em in a fog
And sawin' on a log,
Barbituate-habituate
'Em, then pour down some grog,
Brain-dead they become.

Tranqs for my nemeses,
Their temper's been destroyed,
I'm no more annoyed,
Though they're just shnooks
I cannot brook their bullsh*t,
Schadenfreud'
Is what I have.

Gone is their ravening and bawled bray,
Their blathering's slowed; once they'd prate so,
My prescription gives them a pate blow.
And lugs, they snooze,
Ah, drugs and booze!

I have got a "pharmacy,"
I know that it's a crime,
Maybe I'll do time.
But it's worth all the doses
That help impose bedtime.
So, tranqs, thanks so much!

I know it's a fallacy
That grown men never cry
Baby, that's a lie
We had our bed of roses
But forgot that roses die
And thank you so much

Tranq'd when I posted these? I accidentally appended the final verse of the OS to this parody.
