"Butt Prints On The Couch (Super Bowl Weekend Theme Song)"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Good plan for "burrowing in", from Groundhog Day (today) to Super Sunday ... and if the turtle sees the shadows of enough readers, might peek out of shell again on Friday. Fair warning... ;-D

Video of classic, original vinyl LP here.

Butt prints on the couch
Great mate! Sedate, so, -
- Slothfully, I slouch
"Hot-"? "Cold potato!"
Like a 'roo in pouch
No more, tonight, I do

Some things on TV:
Crass? Crude? Creative?
Seem the same to me
I'm vegetative
Delta wave or three
Imbibe a beer or two

Butt prints on the couch
Sink low and deep! I'll -
- For those imprints, ver'ly vouch
Live in the moment, and all else, to H*ll, can go
Respiration: slow
Eyelids droop; a dulcet snore
Short Q-T pacing; pulse: p*ss-poor

And...
Brain is blotted blight
Luxur'y'ass leather
Cable cr*p all night
Won't move, not ever
Neither loose nor tight;
Arranges "can" just right!

[instrumental -- Brahms' "Lullaby"]

Channel change: a click away
Remote, in hand, will stick all day

Derrieré's delight
As soft as feather
Comfy on this site:
My regions, nether
Gaze past growing gut
But rearrange, not: butt!

[fade]
(Cutie, booty, too!)
(Drink in while drinking)
(Booby! Look! There's two!)
(No need for thinking....)

[he continues to fade away into a semi-comatose state, like, say, Margaritaville, pop. 300,000,000 and growing, so long as they don't have to get off the couch.]

Don't doze off or you'll miss all the wonderful commercials. I'm not sure who's playing this year. Just keep hoping for another "1984" or a herd of cats. When I was young I always marveled at my Dad who would get excited about the big game on TV, then promptly fall asleep after the kick off. It seems a knack for writing poetry is not the only thing I've inherited from him. Good to see you on the site again. Will be watching tomorrow, too.

Welcome back, TT. Sofa, so good.

A fitting bit of commentary-- and no doubt true for the majority of American households this weekend!

Fave lines: "Slothfully, I slouch"/"like a 'roo in pouch", "luxur-y-*ss leather", and your clever play on "But and butt"

Additional points for reviving that lovely word "dulcet". At least *something's* revived around here! ;) 555

Delightfully well sprung production, couched in terms that, ahem, sit well with me! Lots of sofasticated Ottoman empire-style lingo (Q-T/cutie, delta/dulcet, feather/nether) arranged in oh, so comfy couplets o' creaTTive coverlet outflow---can nothing restrict your feral fawcett?!! FRIDAY! FRIDAY! FRIDAY!!

You left quite an "impression" with that one, Turtle! LOL

... or is it "shadowy readers"?

Patrick: I can *do* French, just can't spell it (or speak it). :-D Thanks for v/c.

John Barry: Thanks, and LOL!

Mia Furrow (ROFLMAO!!!): Fave parts of comment: "fitting", and the sly subtext of "revived" -- pithy comment on the site, and when did I acquire that lithp?

TJC: Echoing reply to MF -- uh, better spell that one out; it seems to have some other meaning, though IDK, of course... (tries again) Echoing reply to Mia Furrow, re: sprung, couched, sit, sofasticated (heh!), the Empire-Strikes-Back, er, "foot-note" ;), coverlet, and the über-strong finish, working in "feral fawcett". (TT would like to have worked in Feral Fawcett, but that's another story.... )
Yes, TGIF tomorrow! ... oh, you were referring to the warning in the intro.... guess I'd better do a quick prolixectomy and go finish that sucker!

Mark Scotti: Another LOL comment! Thanks, Mark! ... And since Fiddlegirl's beloved Pack didn't make the final cut this year, GO JETS! (How can they not win, with such a superb leader Manning the helm?)

Cable cr*p all night - I know the feeling. 400 channels & most of them not worth watching.
My fave lines were slouch/pouch as well.
The joys of remote control - I can remember when you actually had to go over to the TV to find more crap that wasn't worth watching.
John Jenkins - February 02, 2012 - Report this comment
This is good stuff, particularly the clever, alliterative “creative/vegetative” verse. But this must have been written by an imposter, not the real Tommy Turtle. No footnotes. Nice try, imposter, but you’re not fooling me.

Andy Primus; .. and going over to the TV to raise or lower the volume. How, exactly, did we survive? ;-D Thanks for v/c.

John Jenkins: See anonymous whiner:

Not that I care about what anon. whiners think, but OK, anyone who DK cardiology, EEG studies, etc., can look them up for themselves.
However, I assure you that I'll make up for this one's lack of footnotes with an abundance in Friday's. Thanks for v/c.

I sure wish there was a button on my remote to turn up the intelligence, there's one marked "brightness" but it doesn't seem to work
Tommy Turtle - February 03, 2012 - Report this comment
Peter Andersson: ROFL!!! -- but what I *really* wish for is a button to turn up my *own* rapidly-fading brain. (and to shut it off or put it on "standby" sometimes -- same with "mute") ;-D ..... "brightness" - too funny! Thanks!

TT - If a Turtle sees his shadow, will we have six more weeks of submissions? I certainly hope so!!! ;D
Tommy Turtle - February 03, 2012 - Report this comment
Old Man Ribber: See comments @ Friday's AmPie-ody, and TT's reply to AFW. You'll see what I mean... Thanks for the v/c -- when you weren't the first commenter here, I was about to start calling the hospitals, police stations, etc. in your area, quite concerened! See what happens when you spoil us with your early-bird-gets-the-first-wit? :-D
