| Original Song Title: | "Are You Lonesome Tonight" |
| Original Performer: | Elvis Presley |
| Parody Song Title: | "Are You Liberal Tonight" |
| Parody Written by: | Joe Haynes |
Continuing in my political vein. Don't worry, being libertarian, I will bash both major parties equally. I just prefer to start with the left.
Are you liberal tonight?
Are your thoughts far from right?
Does your memory stray to a brighter sunny day
When Bill Clinton lived in the White House?
Do the rants of Al Franken seem empty and bare?
Do the Hollywood has-beens really seem to care?
Does your life need a lift, from old Eleanor Clift?
Tell me dear, are you liberal tonight?
(Spoken)
I wonder if you're liberal, not right.
Social Security is your pet plan
And Medicare's a hoot.
Whoever's money is spent is really quite moot.
Act one was F.D.R., you loved him at first glance.
Packing the court to give his leftist agenda a chance.
Then L.B.J. brought us Vietnam and Medicaid
And why I'll never know.
Jimmy Carter couldn't free the hostages.
And government spending was high.
But you'd rather hear those Democrat lies
Than go on living responsibly.
Now we are all slaves to socialist views
With emptiness all around.
If you won't free me from these chains,
In your lib cesspool I will drown.
Does your life need a lift, from old Eleanor Clift?
Tell me dear, are you liberal tonight?
Are your thoughts far from right?
Does your memory stray to a brighter sunny day
When Bill Clinton lived in the White House?
Do the rants of Al Franken seem empty and bare?
Do the Hollywood has-beens really seem to care?
Does your life need a lift, from old Eleanor Clift?
Tell me dear, are you liberal tonight?
(Spoken)
I wonder if you're liberal, not right.
Social Security is your pet plan

Very sloppy. Missing lines, not rhyming others. And by the way, while it took him over a year, Jimmy Carter DID free the hostages. But then, he was no liberal. At least, not until after he left office.
Excellent, Joe. Even if you made a slight technical error or two, the "concept" is fantastic, fitting the original text. And, of course, the icing on the cake is the skewering of the mind-bogglingly stupid, dying breed known as American Liberals. Pay no attention to Pacholek, a dumb liberal, pro-death Polack.
Ow! Damn! I just burned myself on that cross.
Some good thoughts, Joe, and a very good "Eleanor Clift" line.
Terrible, Joe. Despite the fact that you made several technical errors, the "concept" is abysmal, not fitting the original text. And, of course, the irony is the skewering of the mind-bogglingly stupid, dying breed known as American Conservatives. Pay more attention to Pacholek, a smart liberal, anti-death penalty American.
