Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac..two government secured secondary mortgage companies. (GSE)..They back up home loan mortgages
Fannie and Freddie are loaners
Oh lordy, how they do loan
They'd grant anybody a mortgage
On a promise, even over the phone
Too loose with cash,
They started doin' it wrong..

Helped workin' folks buy new houses
Guaranteed loans, some in doubt
Mismanaged our legal tender
Now the "Gov's gotta' bail 'em out
They goofed too long
Yeah, they were doin' it wrong..

Way back in the sixties, they started
A GSE government plan
They back up home loans, secondary
Mess with interest, just because they can
They're big and strong,
But they been doin' it wrong..

The money they spend's from stockholders
Made up of shares, mutual funds
The cash isn't their's, so they're bolder
Bad investments, lose their buns..
Like Cheech and Chong,
They just kept doin' it wrong..

With all of the recent foreclosures
Stock confidence began to fade
Shares started dropping in value
A vicious cycle, all of it made..
No Wall street gong,
Fan and Fred done it wrong

For a moral to this, if there is one
"The Three Little Pigs" fit the file
Don't use sticks or straw, build a brick house
And you'll stay solid all the while..
So, who gets stuck?
We do..just taxpayer's luck..

Yeah, we get stuck
It's good old taxpayer's luck..

As your introductory comments indicate, your 3rd line is not exactly accurate. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac do not make loans to individuals. They buy them from the financial institutions that originate them. Otherwise, excellent stuff!

A bit more informative than mine on the same subject :-) Liked the "little pig" moral, too. Super job, AFW

Thanks, John J. .and In reference to line three...You are correct..but so am I,(technically)...you'll note my phrasing is, "They'd, (or they would) grant anybody a mortgage"..I do not state they do...I do know they are a back-up company, as I state in line three of stanza three... :)...just the lawyer, or a bit of Bill Clinton, in me....as in, defining what the meaning of "Would" is........................and thanks, Phil

:) AFW, you aren't really a lawyer or a Clinton, are you?

No, John...my retainers are all fluids, and the only bills around the house are the kind I have to pay :)

Spring of ~1960~ DearHeart & Fred FlinStone read the SFO ad: Homes in Pacifica for 13,500 with only $350 down, Fred said, "yaba . . . daba . . . doo !" He sold it in 1967 for $27,000. Owner lived there until 2006 probate: $630,000. Currently, can't sell for $609,000 . . . . Bad Economy !!
