| Original Song Title: | "Burnin' Love" |
| Original Performer: | Elvis Presley |
| Parody Song Title: | "We're Burnin' Up (The Global Warming Song)" |
| Parody Written by: | Ann O' Nymous |
This song was my effort to piece together the reason why when I came home to Connecticut after Christmas in Florida, the weather was the same in both places.
Dear Mr. Dubya,
I feel the temperature rising
Higher and higher,
Burning through the ozone
Hurricanes
They'll be the least of our worries
The glaciers are melting,
And what to do, we won't know
But we'll still drive our Hummers
Even when it's always summer
It's the inconvenient truth:
We're burning up
Ooh, ooh, ooh
I feel the climate a-changing
It's only December
And it must be 109
Christmas, Christmas
This year it isn't so white
I think it's the end of the world
And we feel fine
'Cause we'll still drive our Hummers
Even when it's always summer
It's the inconvenient truth:
We're burning up
The mercury's rising
Sun's rays are reaching the Arctic
Won't you please listen
Before we all go up in smoke
It's easy to see
Why Al Gore is a-screaming
Lord Almighty,
We've only ourselves to blame
'Cause we'll still drive our Hummers
Even when it's always summer
It's the inconvenient truth
We're burning up
This whole globe's a-burning, burning, burning up (repeat 6x)
I feel the temperature rising
Higher and higher,
Burning through the ozone
Hurricanes
They'll be the least of our worries
The glaciers are melting,
And what to do, we won't know
But we'll still drive our Hummers
Even when it's always summer
It's the inconvenient truth:
We're burning up
Ooh, ooh, ooh

a hunka hunka burning fives for you
As Elvis himself would say, "Thank you very much." The parody is already much too close to coming true. For most of December and January, it was in the 40s here in Central Jersey. (The 40s? Swell!) Then that (expletive deleted) Groundhog didn't see his shadow, predicting an early spring, and the temperature went down to Green Bay levels! Two days ago, it was 20 degrees! (Voh-do-de-oh-doh!) And this morning we hit the 50s! (A wop-bop-a-loo-bop, a lop-bam-boom!) What the fog is going on?
Hey, down here in the sunny South, I personally am still freezing every morning when I get up early to go to school. Bring on the global warming!
