"CHOKING ON AN APPLE'

I started choking on an apple,
My friends ignored me with a shrug
They went on talking, drinking Snapple
Nobody used a Heimlich hug

And so I pounded on the table
I couldn't breathe, I fought for air
I grabbed a passing waitress, Mabel
She yelled, "You Flirt..Don't touch me there!"

I gasped and I gasped,
But I couldn't find
No-one to help...
Was everyone Blind?

I tumbled on the floor, just wheezing
Flailed out my arms, and threw a shoe
I heard my friend say, "He's just teasing!"
'Was sure my face was turning blue

It was a movie in slow motion
My whole life flashed before my eyes
My pounding head kept on repeating
"Here's how it is when someone dies"

I've never had dynamic presence
I feel invisible a lot
I hardly even cast a shadow
Some say, "I am"... I say, "I'm not!"

I gasped and I gasped,
But I couldn't find
No-one to help,
Was everyone blind?

Today's the funeral at the chapel
The viewing hours, one to three
Guess I should thank that choking apple
At last, someone will notice me
