The Lyrics

OK, so the last two verses are basically two songs about the Wombles set to this tune, but I think it kind of works this way :-)
Well I'm the type of guy who likes to roam around
Picking up the litter people leave upon the ground
My mission is a good 'un, I make clearing up a game
I'm hairy and I'm cuddly - I'll bet you can guess my name
Because I'm a Womble-uh - yeah, a Womble-uh
From Wimbledon and on and on and on and on

Oh, well there's Tomsk on my left and Tobermory on my right
And I'll dream of Madame Cholet when I go to sleep at night
She won't let me get my leg over, she says "ah've 'ad ee-neurff"
So I'm heading into town, I got a date with Lady Smurf
'Cause I'm a Womble-uh, a Wimbledon commoner
I womble round around around around

Oh, well, we roam about the town
Picking litter that we see
You don't know if we're around
Because under your nose, a little Womble may well be

Underground, overground, wombling free
The Wombles of Wimbledon Common are we
Making good use of all the things that we find
The things that all the everyday people're leaving behind
Yeah I'm a Womble-uh, yeah a Womble-uh
I womble round around around around

Oh yeah, when the sun don't shine, and it's cloudy and grey
And it's only the beginning of the wombling day
And you've got to do the washing up for Madame Cholet
And you know the tune is wrong but, hell, you sing it anyway
'Cause I'm a Womble-uh yeah a Womble-uh
From Wimbledon and on and on and on and on
'Cause I'm a Womble-uh, a Wimbledon Commoner
I womble round around around around
Yeah I'm a Womble-uh, yeah a Womble-uh

I (BB) see what you did here, 'making good use of bad rubbish'... when you stop motion these 5's they look like '1970'!

Cute... and LOL @ rhyming of faux-French " 'ad ee-neurff" and "Lady Smurf". :)

Phil - Thanks on several levels. I knew nothing about Wombles until I Googled them after reading your submission. WOW! As a fan of Peter Rabbit and The Wind In The Willows (not to mention A. A. Milne), I now have some enjoyable reading ahead of me. And...thank you for this fine parody. ;D

I wandered to this womble, and found it quite wonderful!

:-) Thanks..

..in the Wombles' spirit of recycling, the eagle-eyed might have noticed that the last two verses are actually the first verses of the Wombles theme tune and Mike Batt's "Remember you're a Womble"
