| Original Song Title: | "Abraham, Martin, and John" |
| Original Performer: | Dion |
| Parody Song Title: | "Durkheim, Weber, and Marx" |
| Parody Written by: | Jim Regan |
I've been thinking a lot about some famous sociologists. Durkheim, Weber, and Marx seem to be the most important sociologists of our time, so why not do a parody on them? Instead of "freeing a lot of people" I explain what they argued. Maybe it's funny, maybe it isn't. oh well.
Has anybody here read my old friend Durkheim?
Is solidarity gone?
He gave a lot of lectures
His best one was on suicide.
You know, I just looked hopeful but it's gone.
Anybody here read my old friend Marx?
Is man's production all gone?
He wrote the manifesto
On mankind's alienation
I just looked downcast and it's gone
Anybody here read my old friend Weber?
Is our will to live all gone?
He wrote a lot of essays
On the nature of authority
I just looked sad and it's gone.
Didn't you love the social facts they studied?
Didn't they try to understand both you and me?
And we'll agree
Humanity, we're just screwed-just utterly screwed ...
Anybody here read my old friend Simmel?
Are all of our options gone?
I thought I saw him join the debate as well
With Durkheim, Weber and Marx.
