The Lyrics

My critics will have less to say if I begin by posting a link to as mainstream an evangelical website as I know. A subset of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, it is here. That written, the present parody is based on my own experiences. I converted to Christianity at a young age but found more and more in the Bible that bothered me as I continued to study it.
I once read and found that
My soul was Hell-bound
From my very first sin;

I must call on Jesus,
Request forgiveness,
To my heart ask Him in.

The men of the cloth say not to have sloth;
We must study hard; oh, but then,
You just might conclude your mind had been fooled
And you don't have a savior again.

Don't have a savior again;
An iconoclast more and more.
Don't have a savior again
If the truth you are looking for.

No person of reason would find a season
The Bible to destroy,
But much more than feelings, there must be some things
That one's brain can employ.

From skeptics you'll find that there's food for the mind
The Christ-seeking heart won't let in;
But careful you be; you may later see
That you don't have a savior again.

Don't have a savior again.
A philosopher more and more.
Don't have a savior again
If coherence you're looking for.

From skeptics you'll find that there's food for the mind
The Christ-seeking heart won't let in;
But careful you be; you may later see
That you don't have a savior again.

Don't have a savior...
Don't have a savior...
Don't have a savior...
In Memory of Farrell Till, 1933 - 2012.
