| Parody Song Title: | "Myrmidon" |
| Parody Written by: | John A. Barry |
A while ago I used "myrmidon" (an unquestioning follower/subordinate) in a parody. Then I though--why not a whole song on the subject?
Myrmidon
They bore in and smoke up my view—
My discernment's gone.
My new gray: a new brain; occlude
Eyes—I'm just a pawn.
Go their way, I've no mind. . .a
Myrmidon.
My eyes aren't clearing, and my
Fight has gone out.
I'm stunned, benumbed, I twirl,
I'm puppet-like.
Give voice to noise; I have no choice—I'm
A myrmidon.
I support their fables; they're able
To string me along.
I'm witless, no quickness enriches
The thoughts I've spawned.
I've got no clues; I'm no longer attuned—a
Myrmidon.
Myrmidon,
Got me coming,
Got me going, beck and call.
That's smoke they're blowing up my rump.
It sounds like it was borrowed
From a tract of sappiness
Masked as plans for tomorrow.
Unquestioning, I spout these schemes.
What I see is what they see.
Pavlov's puppy stalks my dreams.
I'm no longer on my own—
Chase like a hound.
Don't know what makes me run
After my tail, which can't be found.
Just a lemming, I spout these schemes.
What I see is what they see.
Pavlov's puppy stalks my dreams.
They bore in and smoke up my view—
My discernment's gone.
My new gray: a new brain; occlude
Eyes—I'm just a pawn.

Wow. Superb job, JB. Magnificent rhyming to the corresponding syllables of the original song.

Thank you, my followers. (Just a little myrth.)
John, thanks for letting me cancel my Readers Digest. I learn more new words reading your songs thanI ever did with their vocabulary section
