The Lyrics

This is one of my song parodies in Swedish. In the spirit of backup awareness Chucky has given me permission to post them here along with my others. Thank you Chucky!

And now for the Swedish introduction to this particular song: Efter att jag hade skrivit "Brevet från Studentkolonien" så fick jag den här idéen.
Hejsan dottern, hejsan grabben

men får åter operera

The title means: "The letter from the home for the elderly".

You realize that this is a parody of a translation of a parody? I'll credit the original authors here just for the record, since you didn't: Music: Amilcare Ponchielli, "Dance of the Hours" Parody lyrics: Allan Sherman, "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah" 1963 Translation: Cornelis Vreeswijk 1965

Hi Steve! I'm aware that this is originally based on music from a 19:th century opera or musical or something like that. The Cornelis version that I'm crediting is one of the most popular songs in Swedish history and I've had reasons to ask whether Alan or Cornelius did it first and though Alan seemed a bit more likely I haven't been able to find confirmation of that (not that I've spent thaaat much time, but I have tried). Your information seems to confirm that which I've had reasons to believe so I'll just say: Thanx!

I'm guessing you're not Swedish and therefore unable to enjoy my parody here but for your information there are other parodies here on AmIright that are based on Alan's version, I hope you enjoy them if you ever come across them. :-)
