The Lyrics

Today's entry is dedicated to Aussiebulldog. Thanks for the commentary and support. I don't pretend to know a thing about Australians, but I tried to imagine what they might be sick of hearing from us topsiders. Please sing this in your head with an Aussie accent so it rhymes.
You ask me to catch a 'gator
Cause you watch that Irwin bloke
I will tell you "See you later"
Cause it's really an old joke

Brother, you know we live on the bottom side
But it doesn't mean that shrimp we fry
That's a lie
We just go and say "G'day"

Not all women are named "Sheila"
We don't all drink giant beer
Some of us just like Tequila
But we do think you're all queer

Brother, you know we live on the bottom side
But it doesn't mean that shrimp we fry
That's a lie
We just go and say "G'day"

Don't you know, don't you know
We ain't all like Crok Dundee
It's a show, it's a show
For American T. V.

Brother, don't ask where in England that I'm from
Cause I'll tell you "Sidney, boy, you're dumb"
That's how come
We just go and say good
Go and say good
Go and say G'day

I am truly honoured, Rick. I just wish I knew the original so that I could vote on this. But I do identify with some of these lyrics. I was on holiday for a week in Los Angeles back in February, and a guy on a bus mistook my accent for English. Come to think of it, not one person asked me to say "Crikey!" What the hell? I do, however, say G'day a lot.

Hmmm..."I don't know why you say "G'day", we say "Hello." "

Rick D - Good job! Buffalo Springfield, too. Yeah! You know I'd love to hit your web site but my PC here at work does not have speakers. I'll have to wait until I get set up at home for Internet. Hope to do that before I head up North in January.
