"Flockin' Around the Christmas Tree"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Flockin' around the Christmas tree--
It's a pagan party romp
Adopted by Christianity,
Less rustic, with added pomp.

You might get a pentagramal feeling, drinking beer.
The voices one time were Gothy
As folks downed that liquid frothy.

Flockin' around the Christmas tree--
It's a hybrid holiday
That's adapted over centuries
In a new old-fashioned way.

Flockin' around the Christmas tree--
Season's spirits make you sing
As they might chant in Old English time:
Canne dón gehwilc waes hal-ing. [We can do some wassailing]

You might get a sedimental feeling in your beer
If it's Wiezen and looks sloppy,
It's unfiltered and quite hoppy.

Flockin' around the Christmas tree
It's a hybrid holiday
That's adapted over centuries
In a new old-fashioned way.

Very clever. Loved the dig on Christmas trees. Not only are they pagan symbols, they cost too much too.

John, it's true that alot of symbols of Christmas are from a pagan origin; but the real spirit and meaning don't get lost there--no room in the inn, no fanfare and glitter in a manger.
