Parody Song Title:

"I Won't Keep This Pace"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

I won’t keep this pace up;
I forfeit the highest place
And I won't fret
If I am hurled between
The world of 1 and 3; I mean--
Kismet,
Hmmm, hmmm, hmmm, hmmm, hmmm, hmmm?

Were it an earlier day,
With energy to burn, I'd say
That I'd attempt to stay up there
And wrench out more than my fair share.
But nyet!
Naw, naw, naw, naw, naw, naw.

Fallen, yes I have fallen
Because I'm all in. . .
Ain't my domain.

Now I find I groan--
To grind like heck
Is like a stone
Hung 'round my neck;
It's plumb too much each night.
Not so much spurred am I to write--
I'll check.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Fallen, yes I have fallen
Because I'm all in. . .
Becomes a bane.

I've ceded the place,
No need to get into a race,
No tête-a-tête
Nor lure of parity.
So surge, sir uber-parody,
You bet-
cha, cha, cha, cha, cha, cha.

Fallen, yes I have fallen
Because I'm all in. . .
Becomes a pain.

But--
Callin', my muse is callin',
He screams, "Be scrawlin!"
And Jay's his name.

No worries, John... We'll be glad for whatever pearls you throw us swine!
PS: I hope your 'rehab's' way easier than Lohan's & Brit's!

No worries, John. You're still the king, with an extrordinary amount of class, especially in this classic.

Thanks very much, TJC, Mark!

Heartfelt and very well done, join us all down here in the "quality not quantity" zone!

Great job, John, and it would be great if you regained #1 status. Malcolm's parodies are about half well-paced, funny/sentimental and well-written and half highly conservative rants nowadays, and which Jay are you referring to below? Is it Jay Jianoran? I certainly hope it's Jay Leno, since he's very funny and likable. 5s.

I'm just glad you've set the bar so high that mere mortals such as myself wouldn't think of risking self-destruction by attempting to match your output - Great job on this introspective ditty!!!! - 555's

I won't point to your comment a while back (late 2008) that "the race shall soon be run", but I echo my sentiments there: It would be so much better for JAB to put out the quality of which only he is capable than to sacrifice it for quantity, which any hack can do. 555, and lookin' forward to the old JAB who I so adored and emulated when n00b here.
