Song Parodies -> Bait
| Original Song Title: | "Wait" |
| Original Performer: | Beatles |
| Parody Song Title: | "Bait" |
| Parody Written by: | John A. Barry |
*mono: monofilament line; bonito: a type of fish; chum: bait; coho: a type of salmon; sea cow: dugong, an aquatic mammal; Rhône: red wine.
It's such a long line, not twine--sturdy mono*
Give it some play now, that's how--catch bonito*.
Bait: throw the chum* over the side.
Get some beers--we're kind of dried.
And if the line breaks, we'll make repairs today.
I know the smell's strong; hold on; block the airway.
Bait: throw the chum over the side.
Get more beers--we're kind of dried.
I reel as though I've hooked coho*,
Because my rod is drooping toward the sea.
My line's askew--it has trussed you,
Which means you can't get bait for me.
It is a strong line; you're tied up like a bow.
Don't try to break out; chill out; I'll let you go.
Wait until I get my bait knife--
I could use the jaws of life.
I'm peeling slow, but you yo-yo,
And you scream: "Get this line off me!"
And when I'm through, you fall into
The bucket of bait that's slimy.
You're covered with slime; it rimes; you crust and moan.
Have some filet now--sea cow*; pair it with Rhône.*

A reel-ly good one! BTW, I think bonito is a type of tuna.
