The Lyrics

Members of NSA
They track down our lines so neat
Their heads are up my e-mail
I beseech that they don’t repeat
What George Orwell prophesized
Not fair surfin’ alI I want
To get spooked, ‘cause I been good
I’m not, nor ever been

Listen to my rock and roll
Skimmin’ through some good porno
And gettin’ some Wii cheat code
Ain’t no crime, don’cha know
Trollin’ Snowden, will he get by?
Now does government lie?
Nothin’ but net spies
Watchin’ over you and I

Used Google for directions
Downloaded an album (or three)
On billboards wrote “Suck my gourd”
I was just kiddin’, can’t ya see?
No need to lock in on my web view
‘Cause my net life is a bore, no jive
Mind yer business now, won’t you?
Keep out my hard drive

I ain’t Julian Assanges’ mole
I sometimes stream The Daily Show
I’m kinda liberal, so?
Won’t ya light up, ya schmo?
Still those space probes fly
And Michael Moore waves “Hi!”
We still got net spies
Watchin’ over you and I

Well paid Joes caused the Crash
That shook the SEC
Why aren’t you lookin’ in their Windows?
Just keep yer noses away from me!

Tell me exactly what is yer goal?
I am still yer friend, not foe
Maybe some point down the road
This spyin' game will go
And maybe fat pigs will fly
As days go by
Nothin’ but net spies
Watchin’ over you and I
While poor Jesus cries
Watchin’ over you and I

This is a good political piece without being too political. I actually enjoyed this and I normally don't enjoy too many political parodies.

I wonder what chafed the Uno-Bomber's lambasting Uncle Kracker or lambasting the NSA?

I'm not a political person at all...but my whole take on this whole "Big Brother watching what we do" thing is: If you're not doing anything illegal, you have nothing to worry about...if you are, then you shouldn't be doing it in the first place...simple as that. Never heard the OS before, but my name is Abbott Skelding, and I approve this parody!

Abbot writes, regarding massive and intrusive surveillance, "If you're not doing anything illegal, you have nothing to worry about...if you are, then you shouldn't be doing it in the first place."

That's an old saw which is really acquiescence to totalitarianism and the meddling of the state in your private affairs. All you have to do is conform your behavior to what the powers-that-be deem legal, and you'll be O.K. The proponents of indiscriminate stop-and-frisk use your argument.

(Artistry) A few pacing errors here and there, but nothing I couldn't fix in my head. I really enjoyed your skewering of the kinda nonsense that resulted in SOPA and it's ilk. Well done, 555!

I wouldn't be surprised if NSA goes on to do what they were portayed to do in that Will Smith movie. I disagreed with Abbott since it's a violation of privacy among other things, hardly any excuse for that.

(Artistry) I'm in the same boat as Matty, in that I'm not usually the political parody kind of guy, but I still liked this a lot because I do work a lot on the Internet, so I guess it hit home more than most political parodies usually do. Good work.
