| Parody Song Title: | "I Miss the Night Sky" |
| Parody Written by: | Ethan Mawyer |
Cruising down the highway
It's just myself and I
Got a really big car
Cause I'm showing off
I don't have somewhere to go
My sole intention's to show
That I'm rolling in dough
To some folks I don't know
I've been cutting down trees
To light fires at night
Since I'm too close to broke
To pay for a flashlight
But I'll light a cigar
And the smoke is so thick
I don't turn off my car
Sometimes when I don't use it
The air I abuse it
And I don't know
Why I can't turn
Off the A.C.
When I am not home
Factories
Producing necessities
Like plastic accessories
Cause so much more harm than me
I know they're the ones to blame
For the acid in the rain
I think of their deeds and sigh
Cause I miss the night sky
Going out to stargaze
Because Mars should pass by
But I can't see a thing
Cause of all the smog
I'll throw out my telescope
Since there's not any hope
Of me seeing stars, nope
There is not any hope
Although the air is free
The clean kind is quite rare
The kind here makes me choke
I should move someplace where
Everything is pristine
Well it will be until
I start using machines
Since I would go insane, man
Living like a caveman
There is no
Way I could live
Pollution-free
The clean air would go
Factories
I'd bring in for industry
Would produce necessities
Like plastic accessories
Progress is a natural force
I'd be free from blame of course
I would breathe and wheeze and sigh
And miss the night sky
It's just myself and I
Got a really big car
Cause I'm showing off
I don't have somewhere to go
My sole intention's to show
That I'm rolling in dough
To some folks I don't know
I've been cutting down trees
To light fires at night
Since I'm too close to broke
To pay for a flashlight

Can't remember the original well enough to post a vote, but from what i've read this is impressive stuff. You've chosen a serious subject (pollution), and you've managed to incorporate humour into it. If I can get hold of the original version, i'll vote...
That was wonderful, Ethan. I really liked it. 555
I like it
Well done, Ethan. Funny, yet with a real message, just the way I like them. Nice OS, too. 5s!
"Producing necessities/ Like plastic accessories" I love it
(ABC) Oooh, I like this a lot. Great job.
(ABC)Good one.
(ABC05) DKTOS. Your environmental message is quite clear (unlike the sy).
(I-05) Not really funny but well-written and a good wake up to pollution/environmental issues.
(ABC) Love the original, really enjoyed this too!
ABC--I know I totally dig the OS when I hear it...but for some reason, I cannot summon it out of my brain...=( Sorry...
(ABC) I remember in The Simpsons, Lisa was trying to see the night sky thru her telescope but the concert lights from a stadium gave off light pollution ("Thanks, surviving Beach Boys!") Well done. Tri-Fives.
(ABC) Nice concept and good rhyming, Ethan.
( I ) - heartfelt, and very well-worded, Ethan
(ABC) My wife studied astronomy in college and loves to be able to star-gaze when we are far, far away from city lights, so I understand this parody's sentiment, Ethan.
(ABC-I) Heavy stuff, Ethan.
(ABC05) Well written.
(ABC) DKTOS. Well written commentary there...
(I) DNKOS, but heartfelt message. Reminds me why I camp at 10,000 feet in Colorado every summer. The stars are so close you can almost touch them.
fabulous .. gets my vote
Don't know the original either, but I agree with the message the song sends. Very well written, I enjoyed it.
(ABC) DKTOS but great song with a great message.
