Song Parodies -> I Wanna Blow Up Saddam
| Original Song Title: | "Soak Up the Sun" |
| Original Performer: | Sheryl Crow |
| Parody Song Title: | "I Wanna Blow Up Saddam" |
| Parody Written by: | Spaff.com |
Be sure to check out Robert Lund's recording of this at http://www.spaff.com/poesy/blow_up_saddam.html It was written and recorded in March, which, in dogs-of-war years, is forever ago. But, hey, if the guy's still alive...
My friend the pacifist
Holds love-ins in her disco
She marches naked through
D.C. and San Francisco
I'm not a fan of war
I find myself conflicted
One thing I know for sure:
Saddam Hussein's a dickhead
I - wanna blow up Saddam
Wanna shove a smart bomb
Up his beret
I gotta tell ya that I
Wanna splatter his yard
With his Republican Guard
And son Uday
I wanna blow up Saddam
I feel Iraqi pains
They're sanctioned, Bushed, and Powelled
But that ends the day Hussein's
Disarmed and disemboweled
What's with Germany and France
Refusing to give war a chance?
They must've spaced off World War II
To make them act the way they do
Maybe we should get them too!
I - wanna blow up Saddam
He's been a dork for so long
Let's nail him good
Bet Mister Rogers would say
Blow the bastard away
So it's a beautiful day
In Ali-hood
I - wanna blow up Saddam
This ain't a new Vietnam
It's more like my prom
Holds love-ins in her disco
She marches naked through
D.C. and San Francisco
I'm not a fan of war
I find myself conflicted
One thing I know for sure:
Saddam Hussein's a dickhead
I - wanna blow up Saddam
Wanna shove a smart bomb
Up his beret
I gotta tell ya that I
Wanna splatter his yard
With his Republican Guard
And son Uday
I wanna blow up Saddam
I feel Iraqi pains
They're sanctioned, Bushed, and Powelled
But that ends the day Hussein's
Disarmed and disemboweled
What's with Germany and France
Refusing to give war a chance?
They must've spaced off World War II
To make them act the way they do
Maybe we should get them too!
I - wanna blow up Saddam
He's been a dork for so long
Let's nail him good
Bet Mister Rogers would say
Blow the bastard away
So it's a beautiful day
In Ali-hood
I - wanna blow up Saddam
This ain't a new Vietnam
It's more like my prom

I dont know how you got 3s for this, it was excellent.....I love the Mister Rogers line lol
Nice work!!
Loved the recording, too. The conflicted/dickhead line was my favorite, not just because it's a great rhyme but it kind of captures the way most people seem to feel in a memorable way. Great job as always.
Belated thanks, Billy & Pat & Claude 4 Prez. Now that the Husseins are gone, I'm hoping Iraq will survive our efforts to save it.
This song kicks butt!!!!!
Thanx, Tim. Maybe Saddam's sentence will be to be blown up live on pay-per-view. That would rule.
I'm a tad late at voting seeing that Saddam is already "Bushed and Powelled", but it's a great song.
Digging skeletons out of my closet, eh, Matthias?
HAY SPAAFF THAT'S REALLY GOOD!!!..But can I ask one question with out sounding harsh, why does Rober Lund sound like a girl, who is ovisly A Shreyl Crow's clone!! LOL
Spoof-Man: Ah. Good question. Vocals were done by Dori Townsend. It's now correct on my site -after only three (and almost a half) years.
Thanks Spaff !!
I love this parody; it matched the pacing of the original perfectly. I think it's the truth. I hope Iraq quits messing around with their joke idea of a trial and just executes him. I agree with ClaudePres; they said: 'The conflicted/dickhead line was my favorite, not just because it's a great rhyme but it kind of captures the way most people seem to feel in a memorable way.' It's exactly how I feel.
Thanks, Kelly. My view of the war has changed a lot since this was written (hasn't everyone's?), so some of it would be very different were I writing it today. I regret the prom line, for example. But, yeah, the conflicted/dickhead thing still holds.
