| Original Song Title: | "Drift and Die" |
| Original Performer: | Puddle of Mudd |
| Parody Song Title: | "Beat this Guy" |
| Parody Written by: | 2nz |
It's a gamers song, not all that deep, though.
I've gotten games on my birthday.
With one try I beat them fast.
But I don't know, where to go, think I'll go
cry-hy-hy.
I cheated, guide needed, I readed...
what to do, where to hide.
Get away, judgement day, this I say...
boss guy, leave me alone
Enemies will die, my flame-thrower will fry-hy-hy, well I'll waste no time-hy-hym,
as I beat this guy
I wanted not to cheat again, (but) it's so lame to make mistakes.
And I don't know, where to go, about toe...
die-hy-hye
(In following line, the phrase 'not dead' is in place of the phrase 'I said' in the original)
Well I retrieve, from my sleeve (not dead), so relieved...
by the truth, in the guide.
Walkthrough map, list of traps, all this crap...
for me, to call my own.
Girlies have nice thighs, look at them with my eye-hy-hyes, (but) I must say good-bye-hy-hye,
(random yelling begins)
till I beat this guy-hy-hye
till I make him cry-hy-hye
Evil dude deni-hy-hy-hyed
when I beat this guy.
(random yelling subsides)
Just need one more try...
I must get back my pri-hy-hyde
No more stupid gui-hy-hyde
(yelling returns)
I will beat this guy
I won't cheat or die-hy-hye
Only this last try-hy-hy-hye
I will beat this guy
(you get the idea with the -hy-hye's)
And this is no lie
I will beat this guy
With one try I beat them fast.
But I don't know, where to go, think I'll go
cry-hy-hy.

Just a check of the website. This has nothing to do with the song
I had to rate while listening against the original... the overlapping vocals make for tricky work on the pacing and even trickier work trying to rate pacing from my aging memory! I thought you handled it quite well! I'm not a gamer and know pretty much nothing about gaming, so most gaming-themed parodies exclude me from feeling qualified to vote on the "funny" and "overall" categories. Kudos and a 5 on "overall" for making it accessible even to me!
Thanks man, I didn't think you'd see my review for a while so I didn't get my hopes up. I get the feeling that most of the people on the site aren't gamers AND don't listen to too much new rock. Also very impressed that you went back and listened to the song to judge pacing. Congradulations on your 'Special Week' and for doubling the number of votes that this parody has.
No sweat, 2nz. I like Puddle of Mudd and happened to have the disc, so I enjoyed the excuse to pull it out for a listen! I usually listen to the harder new stuff on the radio, but I don't own much of it or always recognise the songs by title/artist or have the lyrics and melodies memorized. And hey, sorry I missed this, before!
Just a test, this has nothing to do with the song or the site. www.yahoo.com
