The Lyrics

Part of my "United State of Pop" self-challenge. A parody of a one-hit wonder about one-hit wonders. Because. Enjoy!
One-hit rapper:
This is why I flopped, this is why I flopped (yeah)
This is why, this is why
This is why I flopped (uh)
This is why I flopped, this is why I flopped (woo)
This is why, this is why
This is why I flopped
One single went high
The rest, they did squat
This is why, this is why
This is why I flopped
Went number one, why
Talent I have not (zilch!)
This is why, this is why
This is why I flopped

This is why I flopped, cause my work was crap
Album sold a mill, but no-one could name a track
'Cept the first song, of course, 'twas the first single, mack
Don't know what I said on it, that's not cause of the crack
The hook was very catchy, errbody and their mum
Were all singin' it loud when it got played at the club
But when the verse hit, the lyrics were unknown
When folks looked up that shit it was soon forgotten once mo'
The chorus was distinctive, just one line on replay
Clubs blasted it loud so it could not escape
The brains of club patrons, that always brings one fame
What was a no-no was that the line was just lame
People hated that line, they mocked it all the time
So, of course, the execs, missed the point by miles (by at least six miles)
Thought my success would soar just like G5's
If the next single repeats their own similar lines

This is why I flopped, this is why I flopped (yeah)
This is why, this is why
This is why I flopped (uh)
This is why I flopped, this is why I flopped (woo)
This is why, this is why
This is why I flopped
First song charted high
The next did jack squat
This is why, this is why
This is why I flopped
A smash hit worldwide
No-one gave a toss (shit!)
This is why, this is why
This is why I flopped

One-hit indie band:
This is why we flopped, thought we had no shot
We'd dreamt of this day when we climbed right up to the top
Of the charts, standard, rock and pop
Catchy little song, friggin' giant fluke or what?
Got in this for the art, we wanted to rock
The label's really psyched now, seem to think we've got
What it takes to churn hits out like robots
None of us can see that happening, doubts we have got
It was a solid track, it came from a jam
You can't catch light'ning in a bottle twice, man
Could start using improv to make our next album's tracks
But nothing is that simple, so I can't guarantee crap
You write us off as "indie" like that was an insult, please
Not in this for money, got lots of fans we love to please
No, we're not "hippies", diff'rent priorities
You may say that we "flopped", but we don't care, we're quite happy

This is why we flopped, this is why we flopped (yeah)
This is why, this is why
This is why we flopped (uh)
This is why we flopped, this is why we flopped (woo)
This is why, this is why
This is why we flopped
One single charts high
The rest, they did not
This is why, this is why
This is why we flopped
Successful despite
What you think, you clods (twits!)
This is why, this is why
This is why we flopped

One-hit guest performer:
This is why I flopped, never had a shot
To be on my own, a piggy-backer, that's my lot
This "fame" thing is a bitch, one single hits the top
But I'm just on the hook, my only hit's a guest spot
The single's main star, he may have a few more
Hit singles up his sleeve, though you can never be too sure
But still I get placed on six other songs
Executives are wringin' out whatever hits I've got
This approach is wrong, now my singles will bomb
Cause there's no-one else, ain't what the public wants
And so the public gets no self-made hits
I'm just a chorus dude, minimal benefits
People know my face, but my album rates
Are pretty friggin' low, which does effect my pay
Hooks don't pay high, at least not when they're mine
And so I'm askin' please, were you wanting fries?

This is why I flopped, this is why I flopped (yeah)
This is why, this is why
This is why I flopped (uh)
This is why I flopped, this is why I flopped (woo)
This is why, this is why
This is why I flopped
Couple hits went high
But my own did not
This is why, this is why
This is why I flopped
Hit piggy-back ride
My songs left to rot (shit!)
This is why, this is why
This is why I flopped

What a lopsided vote.... But look, TCOP, once again you fell into your bad parody writing habit. Parody title is "This Is Why We Flopped"---and your lyrics described virtually nothing that explains why!

Except that the rapper's hit was only known for the chorus that soon annoyed people so no-one payed attention to further singles, the indie band had a unique style on that one song which couldn't be replicated for further success and the guest performer was so oversaturated on featured spots that they couldn't transfer that to solo success. And in all three the record execs in charge were complete a-holes who didn't think the above issues would matter and sent the artists' success into a nosedive. Though maybe I should've changed the title when I thought of the "one-hit wonders" idea. And that is a lopsided vote...my best guess is a 533 and a 151 (the latter from some doink who can't stand the hippity-hop).

I hope you see I am not trying to debate your intentions here. Just IMHO, it would have been a lot more interesting to know WHAT that annoying chorus was, WHAT was unique about the indie band's style, and WHERE he was featured.
