Lyrics by M. Spaff Sumsion. Recorded by Robert Lund. MP3 available at http://www.spaff.com/poesy/superfrog.html
I can't stand to swim
Swamps soak right through me
I'm not amphibian
I just play one on TV
I'm more than a sock
I'm more than a frog
I'm more than some banjo player on a log
And it's not easy to be green
Wish that I could say
What's with the Elmo fuss
Are Bert and Ernie gay?
Is Snuffleupagus?
My friends seem bizarre
Perhaps DUI
But even monsters need a sugar high
I'm only a frog
With ping-pong ball eyes
Riding my bicycle with spindly thighs
And it's not easy to be green
Time to put on makeup, light the lights
And dress up right
On the Muppet Show tonight
I'm not gonzo
But Gonzo is
Wish that I had taped
Electric Company
Wish I could escape
The pigs that hit on me
I'm only a frog
With sex appeal
Walking 'round naked 'cept for this collar deal
Only a frog
With a licensing fee
Missing Jim Henson's hand inside of me
Inside of me...
I'm only a frog with styrofoam feet
Workin' the rough side of Sesame Street
I'm only a frog in the Disney machine
And it's not easy
It's not easy
To be
Green
Swamps soak right through me
I'm not amphibian
I just play one on TV
I'm more than a sock
I'm more than a frog
I'm more than some banjo player on a log
And it's not easy to be green
Wish that I could say
What's with the Elmo fuss
Are Bert and Ernie gay?
Is Snuffleupagus?
My friends seem bizarre
Perhaps DUI
But even monsters need a sugar high

With ping-pong ball eyes
Riding my bicycle with spindly thighs
And it's not easy to be green

I gave you all 5s just for the mp3 recording. Very very good job!
THe recording was one of the best recordings I have ever heard! 10-10-10, but since i cant, 5-5-5
"Wish I could escape the pigs that hit on me..." I'd never seen that situation from Kermit's perspective before. Classic! (And I can relate with him...)
Thanks, all. And Chub: Sorry about the pigs.
Have enjoyed all spaff.com songs but this is just fabulous...corn meets compassion...2 webs up!
Same here, dave.
I like it, too!
Thanks, Dave & Adrian & Kevin. Or, rather, wokka wokka wokka!
Did you not realize that the last three commenters were players for the Los Angeles Dodgers?
Hey, pro athletes LOVE amiright. Everybody knows that. I try not to get too star-struck about it.
I agree with the three Dodgers who already commented. It was an excellent parody.
I downloaded the mp3 a long time ago, just forgot to comment a while ago... i love it. and, dopey kobe rules too. my kobe-hating friend loves it.
Thanks, Static (and your Kobe-hating friend). And, um, you too, Hideo.
The three of us all enjoyed it as well. Great work.
WoW, i really think that was the best parody I ever heard. I love that song...It's catchy, sad, funny, and really deep. I wish i could download that permantly on my computer so i could put it on a disc and listen to it every time im high.... KERMIT IS GOD
uh, you can... right click and click "Save Target As"
Alex, I'm not sure whether you're being serious or sarcastic, but if you really want this on disc, here's another option for you: Robert Lund soon will be releasing a Christmas CD, "Elves Gone Wild," which will include a few non-holiday bonus tracks, including this one. Trust me, I'll keep everyone here posted.
Best Sesame Street/Muppets Parody
Best TV Parody
Shameless plug: This is available as a bonus track on the Robert Lund CD "Elves Gone Wild!" (www.elvesgonewild.com)
This is awesome Spaff! 5-5-5!!!!
better late than never from me. 555
Perfect score!
Thanx, Jackie & Aggro & Ellipsis. And in case you missed the business news this week, Kermit is now *officially* a frog in the Disney machine.
I love this song and I love your version from reading the lyrics... I have one problem though... everytime I tried to download it, and error occurs saying "Cannot find source file" or even if I download it to my pc... it then says "no header information" :( Could you please look into it as I'd really like to listen to it. Thanks.
Colin: Thanx. And I don't know what the prob could be. It's my most downloaded song and I haven't had that complaint before. But if you'll email me (spaff@spaff.com) I'll reply with the MP3 as an attachment. Or better yet, get it on the dirt-cheap Elves Gone Wild! CD (www.elvesgonewild.com).
WOW! i didnt even listen the audio and i could tell every sylabol matched it was all just perfect. you have my respect!
I'm absolutely positive I've never heard this parody but every time I heard the Five for Fighting song, I thought of Kermit's original "It's not easy being green". Nice to see someone else drew that tie.
Thanx, mike and greg. Sick minds think alike.
Cool. This parody is the best. A+ 555 Very funny. Interesting perspective Kermit!
Thanx, Reece!
Recasting votes...I suggest you do too
You managed to take that wonderfully sweet Kermit, and present him in simply whimsical light with a song that was originally a somewhat serious. You pulled it of as if it were the easiest of things to do, yet, I marvel at the talent that pulled off such a feat. I curtsy to the song parody master. Kim.
Hey, I just noticed I never commented on this so I curtsy too.
Belated thanks for the re-vote, Billy. Many thanks for your curtsy, Kim. (And, um, yours too, Claude.) I'm working on another Muppet-themed parody right now; I promise it won't be nearly as whimsical.
That was fantabulastic!
Thanx, Little Lion. Isn't "Fantabulastic" that new kind of plastic surgery?
Excellent, Spaff! I'm just now checking out this almost-two-year-old parody and I gotta say it was really clever! I liked how most of the phrases and lines follow those of the original. Overall, I enjoyed every line of it, so I must give you a 5-5-5. :)
Thanx, Serafina!
Serafina: This is one of the first couple of parodies I submitted to Amiright, and somehow it's picked up more comments in the last month than it did in its first. So thanx - I'm glad to see that the frog has legs. Heh heh.
And to whoever posed as me to post the "Thanx, Serafina!" comment on March 18, I'm sure you were just trying to be helpful, but it's actually a bit creepy. Please let me take care of my own comments, even if it takes me a while to get to them.

Just report that impostor's comment as inappropriate if he wasn't you.
Wow...where have I been all this time? I just stumbled across this brilliant parody, which I am about to award with a perfect score! As one of the people who commented above said, better late than never!
kozar: Feel free to show up any ol' time. Thanx.
I've heard the recording numerous times since last year and completely forgot to comment here. This displays a lot of Kermitment to your parodies! 555
Ralphing Luke: I'm sorry to put you through that, but thanks. And that pun was froggin' terrible.
Wakka, Wakka, Wakka!!! Great one Spaffo, I loved the recording so much it's going to be my wedding song! "What's that honey?".... Well okay maybe not my wedding song, but one of them there for sure!!!
I'm honored to take part, Matthias. Besides, that's the one safe place to be at a wedding: safely hidden away inside the sound system. When's the big day?
This song won't play on my Windows Media Player. Whazup!
Not sure. Sorry. Two suggestions: (1) Try downloading it again. (2) Buy the CD (www.elvesgonewild.com); I KNOW that will work.
I DKTOS (OK, so I listened to the recording anyway, I'm not silly) but I went and found the lyrics to the OS today and somehow it was even funnier once I knew them. Such an awesome recording, such a brilliant parody. I love you Spaff. Are you single? :)
Thanx, Indigo Girl. Single? Ha! I'm a grand slam, baby!
Wow Spaff, I must say as a song wrighter and singer that was great!!! I'm really tuched that you re-wrote a whole song in my honer, and yes I do miss Jim, It helps to think "WWJHD" "What Would Jim Hanson Do?" dering one of our many breaks while shooting/or wrighting a script for a movie! Piggy would all ways reply saying "he would gove me more lines" Ha,ha!!! Well sorry to have run on you like this Spaff but I'm do at a concert gig, say before I go can I ask one big favor, I'm sining at a concert 2 months from now do you mind if I sing your song?, it would be great fun and I'll give you full credit, thanks sincerly, your frogy-bud Kermit
Wow, a visit from Kermit. I never would have expected that. Love your work, man. Er, amphibian.
Thanks Spaff, I never would have expected a song like this...great work!!! Your impretion was dead on...did you have help, how did you make that near-perfect imprection of my voice, I've heard many and some really are REALLY, REALLY bad...one time while jaming with Ozzy Ozborn he did a imprection of me, he said it was tthe gay version and I agreed!! anyway thanks again sincerly, your frogy-bud Kermit
The other day this OS came on the radio, I think it was, yesterday? or whenever but yeah, well I started singing THIS to it, dam LOL it was awesome though got the song in my head all over again, for some reason the "Are Bert and Ernie gay?" verse stuck up there for longer.
Thanks again, KTF. One of my favorite old jokes: What do Kermit the Frog and John the Baptist have in common? Same middle name.
Local Celeb: Thanks, and I know the feeling. There are a few parodies on this site that I ALWAYS hear in my head whenever the original comes on.

LOL awesome, there's been a few for me like that too, I think all of them are yours...anyways, have any of my parodies gone in your head yet? LOL
Jackie: Yes. "I Heard It Through the Graveyard."
Ahh yyes, that one, awesome!
Your Welcome, spaff, love your work and good luck in '07! sincerly, your frogy-bud Kermit
I actually saw this one a long time ago but never commented on it. I think it's a good one. 5-5-5
