Although I'm Sydney born and bred, and a one-eyed NSW Blues supporter, I have a soft spot for up and coming players from our arch rivals Queensland during the State Of Origin rugby league series. This bloke in question is Billy Slater and I performed a tribute on air during the Continuous Call Team (much to the massive delight of Ray Hadley, of course!) as a tribute to this young bloke with a burgeoning future in the game of rugby league.
Couldn't believe my name was mentioned
It was quite sudden and unforseen
Not bad for someone playing for the Melbourne Storm
Then to fully realise his dream
It was hard to conceive
Though I still can't believe
That I would score a try
In State of Origin
Thanks to Darren Lockyer
I could sense a win
After that magic moment, it was good and done
The greatest birthday present coz I turned 21
Coz I just scored a try
