The Lyrics

I used to do a lot more self-promotion in other writers' comments-sections, but no longer...so this is a look back at how things used to be...
Plug! Plug! Plug! Plug! Plug! Plug!
Plug! Plug! Plug! Plug! Plug! Plug!

I think I'll plug me again
I'll leave you a link
I hope we're still friends

Though maybe

I might seem like I'm rushed
But it doesn't mean I'm imperious
'Cause to shmooze all my verses
That is just so typically me

So maybe, maybe

Oops!...I plugged me again
Displayed my own art
I'm lusting for fame

So maybe, maybe

Oops!...You thought I was shy
As si-lent as a dove

I'm
Not
That
Reticent!

You see my problem is this
I'm screaming for fame
Some wish that zeroes
Like me don't exist

My eye's watching the screen
You might think I'm a fool
My plumage I preen
But to shmooze all my verses
That is just so typically me

Maybe, oh

Oops!...I plugged me again
Displayed my own art
I'm lusting for fame

So maybe, maybe

Oops!...You thought I was shy
As si-lent as a dove

I'm
Not
That
Reticent!

Plug! Plug! Plug! Plug! Plug! Plug!
Plug! Plug! Plug! Plug! Plug! Plug!

Message board!
"Dear author - before I go, there's something I want you to have!"
"Oh, it's a comment! But wait a minute, isn't this...?"
"Yeah! Plug it is!"
"But I thought your parody dropped into obscurity long ago!"
"Well baby, I wrote down a nice plug for you!"
"Oh, you shouldn't have!" (no, really, you SHOULDN'T HAVE!)

Oops!...I plugged me again, on your art,

I'm lusting for fame, oh baby!

Oops!...You think I'm si-lent as a dove

I'm
Not
That
Reticent!

Hehehe...DKTOS, but I trust your pacing and it's funny! Who thought you were shy? Never!!
Arwen - June 28, 2004 - Report this comment
Johnny...you've totally tainted my once innocent mind. I was SOOO sure that this was going to be about like...butt plugs or something. Heehee...Even with the non-x-rated content...this is excellent as usual...555!
Jack Wilson - June 28, 2004 - Report this comment
Great job! 555!
Kristof Robertson - June 28, 2004 - Report this comment
So shy, so retiring! :-) And, like Arwen, I thought this was gonna be something a bit...er..different. Well done anyway! 555
Serafina - June 28, 2004 - Report this comment
I guess this is the first Britney song you've parodied? Well, it was really good; I give it a perfect 5-5-5.
Phil Alexander - June 28, 2004 - Report this comment
Hey, I've done this song, too: http://www.amiright.com/parody/90s/britneyspears70.shtml ;-)

I thought it was going to be about something else, too. See what you've done to our minds?? (For shame j/k)
dan - June 28, 2004 - Report this comment
uhh... not very funny. plus, it's all about one stupid thing that no normal person would ever get. good pacing though, that's all i can say.
C-Pac - June 28, 2004 - Report this comment
There's your shit...
Mr X - June 28, 2004 - Report this comment
hey, where'd my comment go? I commented earlier saying I liked this parody, and gave it 5/5/5, but now it's not here anymore! As Stephaine on Full House would say, "How rude!"
Lionel Mertens - June 28, 2004 - Report this comment
Circle the bases Johnny you've plugged in over three thousand votes. By the way, Pete Rose says you're a sure bet.

Thanks Lionel.

Dear Johnny, I'm going to tell you straight up like Paula Abdul that I've clamoured for your attention recently and am not ashamed to say so. People need validation. I spend and hour usually more on each parody (not everyone can crank'em out like you). And when no-one votes on my songs I'm kind of crushed. And I feel like it was in vain. I never sought your personal attention before. But your name popped up on the comments so much I just missed your high 5's. You give up the fives pretty easy. But you also leave great comments. Just one comment from you could make the whole time I spent writting the parody worthwhile. In music the fist album is usually a sell-out album. You couldn't play with the walrus until you let him hold your hand. This whole parodying thing is actually a premise for people to present views and reveal self. It's also a shared experience. Some people are meeting in N.Y.C. but they haven't decided yet where. If I had any say, I would tell them Trump Tower (725 fith avenue) of course. Your an intelligent person Johnny, I don't even know what reticent means yet. But thanks for keeping the denominator high. Late.
Johnny D - June 29, 2004 - Report this comment
Lionel, you have a crystal clear perspective about what this whole parodying thing is all about. Thank you for your very kind and deeply thoughtful words.
Leo Jay - June 29, 2004 - Report this comment
DKTOS very well, but I love "...reticent", and it's very funny overall.
Mr X - June 29, 2004 - Report this comment
Speaking of comments gone, Johnny, I just noticed that the comment you wrote thanking everybody is also gone. You thanked me and everyone who commented before me (ten people including me). Is there like a bug or something?
Johnny D - June 29, 2004 - Report this comment
Hmm, you are correct, Mr. X. When I get home I will re-thank those people, including you. Thank you again!
Johnny D - June 29, 2004 - Report this comment
Thank you, everybody!

Adagio: Don't blame ME for your filthy imagination, Pat! ;-)
Arwen: "Totally Tainted Arwen" .... sounds like an updated revival of "Thoroughly Modern Millie" !
Jack: Thanks, Grubmeister!
KR: Tisk, tisk, another raunchy mind in our midst...oh I feel so at-home!
Serafina: Yup, first one!
Phil: Good job!
JB: Yeah, I know YOU aren't that reticent either, heh heh!
dan: Thanks for noticing the pacing!
C-Pac: Oh, thanks, I was wondering where it got off to.
Mr. X: Again, thank you!
Leo Jay: Thanks!
Lionel: Thank you!

Nice job, Johnny Dangle. Oh, and this reminds me - I have a song that has absolutely nothing to do with yours whatsoever:

(SOTM 2000). After the 07/28 happening, maybe we should all look a little easier on plugs. Referring back to other parodies on same topic or other parodies on the same artistīs same version.

BTW: Take a look at my.... ehhh, drat! I havenīt used either the subject or this song myself. Restore some votes for the following one instead, itīs probably my best. Took the longest to write too.

(SOTM) I agree, http://www.amiright.com/parody/misc/traditional240.shtml is a great parody. Indeed, http://www.amiright.com/parody/misc/traditional240.shtml so often that http://www.amiright.com/parody/misc/traditional240.shtml has really left its mark on me. I also like yours, JD, nice work.

SOTM Nice work. I really hate the original song, and in my opinion it's one of those songs that has been parodied to death, but this just proved to me that even overused songs can still get funny parodies. 5^3
